Daniel J. Moran, Ph.D., BCBA-D is a recognized behavioral psychologist, consultant, professional speaker, and founder of Pickslyde Consulting and the MidAmerican Psychological Institute. Pickslyde Consulting brings evidence-based training to organizations worldwide. “Dr. D.J.” has consulted for small tech start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, and presented thousands of hours of behavioral science and performance enhancement workshops on six continents and in all fifty of the United States. His book, Building Safety Commitment, has been woven into his Behavior-Based Safety trainings for dozens of companies. He has also helped organizations win the Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award from the American Psychological Association.
Dr. D.J. founded the MidAmerican Psychological Institute in Chicagoland in 2003, and created a robust behavioral health network with fellow clinicians in order to reduce suffering and improve quality of living for clients using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and other evidence-based treatments. He has been practicing ACT since 1994, and has supervised over 100 health practitioners for their license or certification in applied behavioral science and psychology. He was honored with the Outstanding Mentor Award from the Association for Behavior Analysis International. The MidAmerican Psychological Institute is a National Health Service Corps site, and has helped several thousand clients with their mental health concerns.
Dr. Moran is the past-president of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science, an ACBS Fellow, and was also a member of the inaugural ACBS Recognized ACT Trainer Committee. He co-authored ACT in Practice, the canonical case conceptualization manual for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and publishes the podcast, Functionally Speaking. Dr. D.J. has appeared on The Learning Channel, Discovery, Animal Planet, and The Oprah Winfrey Network discussing behavioral health issues, mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Even more importantly, he is a dedicated father, husband, friend, and heavy metal fan.
