Craig Stanford, Ph.D., is co-director of the USC Jane Goodall Research Center and professor of biological sciences at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. He is the author of Planet Without Apes, which addresses the plummeting population of great apes. Stanford has studied primates on three continents. His work includes more than 20 years studying chimpanzees in East Africa, with his early years spent working with primatologist Jane Goodall.The author or co-author of 15 books and more than 120 scholarly articles, he also holds a research appointment in vertebrate biology at the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History.
