Barb Cohen writes and speaks about her perspective on parenting a child with special needs. Barb works as an educational advocate at Special Family Support, where she combines her backgrounds in special education law, teaching and parenting to establish collaborative strategies for supporting diverse learners. She also moderates support groups for parents of children with diverse challenges and frequently presents to parent and teacher organizations. Most importantly, Barb is raising two beautiful daughters who challenge her every day to rethink her own ideas about neurodiversity, disability, and the intricate web of motivations that underlie parenting behavior. She lives in Chicago with her husband, daughters Sam and Kelly (the pseudonyms they chose for this blog), and two cats.
