I enjoy traveling and experiencing new countries and cities. Planning travels is my hobby, I am an itinerary queen! I enjoy hearing of other's goals and plans for their future. I love motivating others and in another life I would be a great motivational speaker. I like to read about fictional worlds and enjoy playing some tunes on my guitar. I attend the occasional open mic and enjoy playing along with my husband. As a true San Diegan, my love for oat milk lattes and walks by the beach is my favorite Saturday activity.

I place great value on the uniqueness of each person, which leads me to use an eclectic approach to therapy. My approach includes both evidence-based treatments such as CBT and ACT, as well as emotion-focused and somatic therapy. Approaching therapy in this manner allows the therapeutic process to be tailored to the individual’s needs and strengths. I believe knowing one’s self and awareness of the mind-body connection can lead to growth and achievement. Awareness of this connection inspires me to help people become more conscious of their physiological/body experiences, as well as challenge limiting thought and beliefs.

My approach is that I believe that deep down everybody has the answers to their problems. I feel that with unconditional positive regard, non judgment, and a place to be really heard, that most people will speak their truth and find the answers they are looking for. I enjoy working with families, couples, individuals, and teens.

Do you find that despite your best efforts, changing your responses to stressors eludes you? Emotions are in the driver's seat and you feel like you're just along for the ride, hanging on for dear life? Maybe relationships never feel stable or safe because you had chronically judgmental or invalidating people in your life. When your emotions, relationships and behaviors feel out of control, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) can help you learn strategies to experience yourself and others in a new way, making a way for change.

I work with youth that have big personalities! They are complex, intense, passionate, independent, curious and very loving. They are also very smart, charismatic, and creative. They are all or nothing! One minute they are laughing, the next they are screaming. These children experience reduced filtering and advanced processing of information which causes them to have a hypervigilant stress response system. This affects learning, motivation, memory, the pursuit of pleasure, and self-regulation. This neurobiological quality is behind their intensity and originality. However, the right environment is key for their healthy functioning!

Silicon Valley can be a stressful place to live. Sometimes, the demands of living and working in this area rob us of the passion we once had. If you are feeling pulled in too many directions...if you are feeling like your needs take a backseat to everything else in your life: kids, work, older parents, spouse, then I would like to help. You can feel like you once did, full of LIFE and PASSION. Running on empty can lead to depression, anxiety, relationship drama, and health problems. You can feel better, even THRIVE, while meeting life's challenges with ease.

The best predictor of success in therapy is the relationship built between the client and the therapist. I create an environment where you will experience unconditional acceptance and a safe place to share your thoughts and feelings. Over the course of therapy, you will feel more confident in yourself, your decisions and build healthy coping skills. For 15 years I have helped my clients cope with a variety of issues including: depression, anxiety, parenting, divorce, affairs, eating disorders, relationships, communication, grief and loss, setting appropriate boundaries, increased self-confidence and self-esteem.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is an important piece of the process through which growth and healing can occur. Helping clients to feel safe enough to share their feelings is paramount, and to offer hope is vital. It is important for the fearful to know that courage is being afraid, but doing it anyway. This concept promotes self esteem, and helps people to move forward in their lives. I use a variety of theoretical orientations, but chose the ones that are best suited for my client needs. I give clients tools to work with that will help them change their negative thoughts to positive ones..

I believe everyone has the capacity and ability to change and improve their life and it's my privilege to help guide people along the way in therapy. I strive to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for all my clients to look at themselves, find new ways to be in this world, and ask the hard questions in life. We all have messaging we tell ourselves and so often it is unhealthy and can lead to negative self-talk, lower self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and stop us from living our best life. I work with each client to help uncover their roadblocks and find new ways forward.

I am both a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, Washington, and Texas, and an attorney licensed to practice in California and Washington. I use a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach as a counselor to promote personal growth, healing, and empowerment. I am passionate about working with children, adults, couples, and families. Paramount to my practice is creating a space where clients can feel safe.

I help entrepreneurs, innovative leaders, coaches/therapists, and other creative people stalled in important work or life pursuits. You've become "stuck:" there's something you want to do, have the skills for, yet struggle with. Your block doesn't make sense, and you're FRUSTRATED and maybe even overwhelmed or ashamed. Examples include entrepreneur's block, writer's block, getting past bad job experiences, networking, building executive presence, seeking courage to build new relationships, and other workplace phobias. The work transforms what you struggle to do into what you'd love to do, and rebuilds a sense of purpose.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Los Gatos?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
