Do you often miss your True Authentic Self? In other words, do you struggle to make own decisions because you fear judgment or hate upsetting others? Do you feel like you sometimes stand in your own way of living your potentials? Do you want to take your life and life time very seriously, yet, feel stuck and don't know how to actually manifest your visions and calling into reality?

"We live life forwards, but only understand it backwards" - Søren Kirgegaard. As a systemic counsellor and therapist, I always see people as part of a system. What they experience there, which values are represented and how they communicate with each other decisively shapes us. Like a mobile, every link and every movement has an influence on the rest of the system. This way of looking at things helps us to look at our own system from a distance, to better understand its origins and connections and to initiate appropriate changes.

Emotion complements reason in ways which can be confusing, especially considering the social animal we are as humans: living with remarkable sensitivity to one another. Emotion guides us toward knowing our unmet needs. In therapy, only you can be the expert of your inner world's path. It is an honor to accompany you while maintaining focus on your goals, limiting distraction and avoidance behaviors, and fostering opportunities for appropriate self advocacy and self compassion.

Issues: Emotional Distress: They may be experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, or emotional numbness, often stemming from unresolved trauma or current life stressors. Relationship Challenges: This includes difficulties in romantic partnerships, family dynamics, or social connections, often due to communication barriers, trust issues, or past hurts.

Are you struggling with repetitive pattern, or symptoms, emotional, affective or psychological issues ? Rather than taking medication and treating the issue on the surface, would you prefer to better understand why this is happening to you, and why it happens ? With more than 23 year of private practice of psychotherapy, I can help you to cope with your situation and, most of the time, turn it into a positive experience. My work focuses on qualitative change, and for that we'll analyze things under the surface.

Mental health significantly influences various aspects of our lives, encompassing our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It plays a crucial role in how we think, feel, act and relate to others. I know how challenging can be to deal with ourselves and challenges in life. It's essential to have a trusted ally by your side and that's where I come in - with passion and commitment I work helping people to achieve their full potential.

I always learn from the teens, young adults & families I’ve worked with, but this is most important for me to remember: Even behaviors that may appear ineffective from the outside looking in, usually have wisdom at their core. When a person is in pain, they generally want to feel better. My clients all come to therapy because what they’ve been doing to feel better ultimately isn’t working any longer. We work together to address what’s at the core of their pain & focus on managing that more effectively, without negative repercussions. We will together build a set of skills to help them feel more empowered & effective in their life.

Self-Harming Counsellors
How does therapy for self-harm work?
A person may turn to self-injury so that they can distract themselves from their stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances. Therapy can address the cause of an individual’s suffering. A therapist can help a person understand why they may want to self-harm and help the person learn new methods of coping. A person may have poor emotion regulation, and treatment such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is helpful for breaking this behaviour. In addition, treatment such as dialectical behaviour therapy can help a person manage their tolerance of distress.
Which therapies are best for self-harm?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, psychodynamic, and mentalisation-based therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour therapies are common approaches for people who have painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual cope with distress, regulate emotions, and manage impulsive urges.
Does the tendency to self-harm mean the person is suicidal?
Having this urge does not mean the individual suffers from suicidal ideation. People who want to self-injure look to distract or alleviate themselves from the pain they are experiencing. People with suicidal tendencies want to end life altogether. However, this does not mean a person with the intent to self-harm will not attempt suicide.
How often and how long are therapy sessions for self-harm?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Clients may see improvement within 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, maybe, a six-month period. People, especially those with co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, may need to continue therapy for up to 12 to 18 months.
