Psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy is a way to examine life and to get a glimpse of the unconscious fundamentals of our being. With this method, unconscious patterns can be discovered and worked through. For example, past experiences can be integrated to improve psychological well-being, the quality of interpersonal relationships, and the sense of self. In many cases, the changes achieved through therapy are subtle; they flow almost unnoticed into everyday life. However, in my eyes, psychoanalytical therapy also carries the chance of radical breaks that could be described as existential shifts.
