My background is in systems theory; the idea that everyone is connected to those around them, with influence between all those people, organizations, and cultures. My approach to therapy is primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy but I also see a need for insight into the meaning that we make/have made of things and how that impacts our present. Therapy then, involves opening space for a person to increase awareness of their own process and to see alternative perspectives, thereby empowered to make different life decisions. It is so exciting to see someone realize that they have the power to change their perspective and their life!
I have had a great deal of success working with children and their parents for many childhood issues such as behavior problems, ADHD, anxiety and so on. I approach the family as a whole, working with parents and children to improve the life of the whole family.
I lived and practiced in South Korea for many years, working with Asians but more with clients from all over the world. This gives me a rare therapeutic agility to work easily with various people.
