We can all feel lost and overwhelmed by our emotions, creating a disconnect from ourselves and others. Our anxiety can take over and we can start turning to self-sabotaging behaviors. It can feel as if it has taken over our lives and all that we are really craving is connection, support, and tools that can help us show up differently creating more peace with ourselves and others.

Relational Psychotherapy is an approach that focuses on the connection between self and other. This type of framework locates a person’s difficulties within an interconnected web of relationships. The premise is that we are born into relationships and we are formed by them. In these relationships we can experience both trauma and joy and it is through relationship that we can begin our journey towards integration and personal wholeness. We cannot eradicate suffering but we can allow it to transform us to bring our best self forward into the future.

I WELCOME ALL OF YOU who are ready to make deep and lasting changes in your life to find fulfillment, meaning, new skills and appreciation. I believe that each one of us is on a journey of recovery, healing, repairing, growing and learning how to manifest authentically and creatively. I also believe that the individual personal work we do directly impacts those in our life and our society at large. I know that we need to be connected to our families, neighbours, communities to find health. Similarly, we need to honour our land, our resources and all sentient beings. I look forward to meeting you in person or at a distance.

I am an integrated therapist based in Whitehorse. Through my work with suicide education I've been fortunate to travel throughout Yukon Territory, and have provided services to nearly all of the communities. I have experience working with teenagers, adults, elders, families, and couples - all folks who are looking to improve their mental wellness and make positive changes. I want clients to have success in therapy and believe while people can be guided to new strategies and ways of approaching challenges, each person is ultimately an expert on what will help them succeed.

If you're struggling in relationships or with anything related to your sexuality, you are in the right place. These topics can be difficult to experience, and scary to discuss, so having a counsellor or therapist who can discuss these topics openly is important. Whether you are attending counselling as an individual or together with another person/people, taking this first step is important. Perhaps the passionate energy is gone, or maybe you don't even recognize the person you sleep next to anymore. Seeking support, this moment right here, is the most important thing you can be doing. You don't have to do this alone.

What type of mental health professional is right for me?
Some of the most common types of mental health providers in Yukon are psychologists, licensed counselors, therapists, psychotherapists, and licensed clinical social workers, all of whom diagnose mental health conditions and provide individualized treatment.

Services offered, education and credentials vary by type of mental health professional. Each professional in Yukon then may specialize in certain areas, such as depression, marriage counseling, or anxiety. Although many mental health providers are not licensed to prescribe medication, they may coordinate with a provider who can.

Both in-person and online therapy sessions are available from most psychologists.

How to find a specialist?
You can refine your search using the filters on this page. There are several categories you can filter by to find mental health professionals with the experience you are looking for. You may want to filter for CBT Psychologists in Yukon, or Child Psychologists in Yukon.

Many find it useful to use filters to view only psychologists that have experience working with certain issues, like Yukon psychologists specializing in EMDR.

What method of therapy is right for me?
When it comes to treatment methods, there's no 'right way.’ Each method of therapy can be beneficial for a variety of issues. Psychologists in Yukon specialize in therapeutic approaches such as CBT, EMDR, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), among others. Learn what to expect from different types of therapy and how they work.

How to use my insurance?
Many therapists accept health insurance. Check to see if your insurance is covered. Feel free to discuss this when you contact the therapist.
