Hi. I'm Danielle Culbert. I am a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist in Sault Ste. Marie, ON and the owner/director of Woodstar Counselling and Consulting. I am also a proud mom and understand the challenges of balancing work and home and my own self-care needs. After completing my degrees in southern Ontario, my family and I relocated to beautiful northern Ontario. Sault Ste. Marie is now our home- the place where we have put down roots and I am so proud to be contributing to this vibrant, growing community.
I began my career in healthcare over 10 years ago and developed confidence using Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients feel better. I recognized early on, however, that my clients often needed a more trauma-informed approach, which led me to become trained in EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Beyond any specific kind of therapy, research has shown that the most important factor in counselling success is the relationship (“fit”) between the counsellor and the client.
