Wai-Han (慧娴) is my name. Wai: wisdom; Han: elegance. Born and raised in a shame-based culture, from a young age things were spoken over me that were the opposite of this, that I did not measure up to my name. I experienced the power of words- that they can speak life or death- for me evoking self-rejection. Through my journey toward healing, spoken words brought liberating life to me. Thus, I am passionate about speaking life into people’s lives, even while they struggle with depression, anxiety, or challenging relationships. I love seeing individuals find more internal freedom, and feel empowered & in control of their experiences.
I appreciate the courage it takes for a client to reach out. I provide compassionate care to diverse, vulnerable populations, and I work with individuals of all ages. I have experience working with school-age & college students, adults, couples and families. I am well-versed in helping clients overcome stress, anxiety, and many other challenges.
I am grateful to have developed intercultural experiences in Europe, Australia & Asia. I utilize an integrative approach to narrative therapy through modalities such as Behavior Therapy (Cognitive, Dialectical), trauma theory, and more. Besides British & Canadian English, I am proficient in Cantonese & Mandarin Chinese. I look forward to journeying with you.
