As a clinical psychologist and licensed neuropsychologist, I am fortunate to work with a wide range of clients and issues. The heart of my approach is teamwork; I'm an expert in what I do, but you are the expert in you. Together we discover what's not going well and why, then find ways to make life better. It's not about good or bad, right or wrong - we are all human, trying our best to deal with what life brings us. Therapy offers understanding, support and tools for effective coping, whether emotionally, socially, at school or in work.

With neuropsychological/psycho-educational testing, we can clarify any obstacles to success and well-being. A thorough, personalized assessment may reveal undiagnosed learning delays or disabilities, cognitive limitations, giftedness, ADHD or autism. The results are often a relief - and can guide our choices for treatments, schools, jobs or life plans.

The West Island Neuropsychology and Counseling Centre provides a broad range of services in a comfortable, safe environment. Along with therapy and testing, our clinic offers remediation, hypnotherapy, art and drama therapy, dietetics, and group interventions for social skills, behaviour problems, anxiety and ADHD. Vicki Veroff's Groups

Social/Emotional and Life Skills for Children

This group teaches children appropriate social/friendship behaviours, how to recognize and talk about feelings, general coping skills, self-control/self-regulation and kindness/manners. We use art, games, role play, discussion and other strategies to teach and practice a broad set of skills. Parents are kept up to speed with each week's theme and parenting skills are offered simultaneously.

ADHD Survival and Support Group

These groups teach children, teens and adults with ADHD essential skills and - perhaps more important - how to implement them. Depending on age, topics may include time estimation and management, organization of time/space/belongings, impulse and attentional control, effective use of agendas/calendars/PDAs, emotion regulation and social skills.

Social Anxiety Treatment Group

Social Anxiety can be crippling. Worries about being judged, embarrassed or rejected often lead to avoidance - of school, work, social events, dating...it eventually becomes an avoidance of life. In our 12-week program, you will learn to fight social anxiety with the support of others who truly "get it." After an initial one-on-one meeting with the therapist, we move on to group sessions that use cognitive behavioural (CBT) techniques, mindfulness meditation, drama therapy and other evidence-based treatment methods. Let us help you stop worrying and start living!
