The process of choosing a counsellor begins long-before you arrive at the first session. Often there is a feeling within ourselves that something is just not right. It may be a time marked by a great deal of personal introspection or it could be an intervention from an external source -school, family, friends, your doctor - that motivates contact with a therapist. As a person-centred therapist, I will work with you to establish a meaningful relationship where you feel safe to explore and resolve issues that fit your unique needs at this moment in time.
Assisting individuals and couples has been a long-standing goal in my work. I have extensive training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. The proven techniques associated with this method are highly effective with couples who are distressed, emotionally disconnected, facing a recent affair, or moving through communication issues.
Ann offers Jungian sandplay in her counselling practice which involves spontaneous, imaginative play in small trays of wet or dry sand with miniature figurines and objects. It is a useful approach when working with children. This unique approach encourages healing in children facing grief, loss, trauma and attachment related concerns.
