No matter how the therapy unfolds, I strive to be present, caring, and real. Not a blank-faced professional jotting down notes, but a genuine human being. Each of us is an individual, and therapy requires meeting people in their difficulties, empathizing with their suffering, and forgoing all "off the shelf" techniques. In each case I work with clients to uncover their most difficult and persistent problems in order for them to be processed and worked through. In so doing, I also help clients to discover and integrate more of their largest selves and deepest callings.
I became a counsellor partly because I have gone through therapy myself. In so doing, I learned how an empathetic therapist can help one face what seems impossible and transform it. I enjoy the process of self discovery, and enjoy helping people heal from the suffering that blocks their lives.
My therapist "joke" is that I'm like a travel agent to where nobody initially wants to go. But what often first appears as nothing more than a mud bay of depression or a lone rock of despair, often turns out to be the beginnings of a whole new continent.
