Therapy can be an opportunity to bring awareness to your unconscious patterns, to discover where you have choice and to connect to your authentic self. Therapy is one way you turn towards yourself, this can be challenging when we’ve spent a life time turning away. We need time, space, and guidance to transform ourselves and forge a new path.

I work extensively with couples on communication and relationship issues including infidelity, the rebuilding of trust and issues concerning sex. I work to help facilitate emotional responsibility so that everyone can define their goals, be heard and work towards feeling safe when communicating from a place of vulnerability. I have also worked with men individually and in a group setting around issues of identity, anger management, sexuality, anxiety, and depression.

The best therapists are ones that have experienced many of the issues their clients come in with, and I would be no exception to that. Having overcome many struggles myself, and found ways to cope, I pass that knowledge onto my clients. I work differently than most counselors. I believe counselling should be short term. I want to bring you to a place to learn the tools to implement and then help yourself. I work primarily with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, phobias, OCD, eating disorders, relationship issues, and ADHD.

Welcome! I am a therapist who specializes in working with women, with a particular focus on maternal mental health issues including perinatal anxiety and depression, the baby blues, and postpartum depression and anxiety. I tend to work with young adults who, in one way or another, are struggling to change. They have the frustrating sense that they are getting in their own way yet are unsure of what to do about it. Together, we deconstruct their defense mechanisms which, although protect them from unwanted feelings and experiences, ultimately stunt their growth.

I will help you access your body based intuition so that you can find answers that are right for you. The felt sense is a body knowing that is just outside of verbal thought. Your inner wisdom holds the answer to what you need to feel good. Body centered approaches are helpful because while our minds are busy trying to figure things out, our body has a sense of what resonates. Art therapy also uses colour and shape to express what words can’t convey. For over 20 years I have helped people heal from personal, intergenerational, and collective trauma, depression, and more. I also provide psychedelic-assisted therapy through Numinous.

Welcome. My name is Kevin. I am queer & cis, a white male, able-bodied and middle-class. I specialized in trauma/post-traumatic stress, identity-based work (e.g., LGBTQ2S+), stress & anxiety, and anti-oppressive therapy. I am a trained EMDR clinician and utilize various other approaches, primarily with folks between 6-40 years old. Trauma is experienced differently for everyone. For adults, experiences of isolation, shame, anxiety, fear, being out-of-control or out-of-mind/body, anger, frustration, hearing voices, being triggered, irritable, helplessness, having "fuck it" moments, hopelessness, and more, can be all looped up in it.

My passion is to help young adults through difficult life transitions and feelings of despair. This could look like loss in academics, career, relationships, culture, gender/sexual identity, or nature (e.g. climate change/fire). I myself have lived through traumatic loss and am deeply familiar with both the strengths and stressors of life transitions. I have also lived in multiple countries abroad and recognize the difficulties of being a newcomer and the importance of belonging. Finding clarity and developing connections can help reduce feelings of anxiety, loneliness, and loss.

With over a decade in the social service field and as a Canadian Certified and Registered Clinical Counsellor, ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP) and master of counselling (MC), I work with clients to manage life’s circumstances and find healthier ways of engaging with self and others. When you come into a session, I will offer compassion when you feel vulnerable and calmness when things feel chaotic. There is a reason you feel the way you do and you do not have to face it alone. You can count on a safe and accepting space to share your concerns and, in turn, I will offer support and guidance along your journey.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
