I am an unconventional therapist who ecourgaes her clients to talk to trees and prescribes nature walks and ceremonies in the woods. My therapeutic work is a unique combination of western therapeutic approaches, research based neuroscience infused therapy, wisdom from my Siberian ancestors who practiced Shamanism and ancient Slavic healing modalities, and intuitive healing... but most days I will just say that I am someone who doesn’t take herself too seriously and is deeply in love with the earth.

Negative life experiences not only affect a person individually, but relationally as well. Survivors can begin to experience issues with trust, communication and closeness that often create a pattern of distancing in order to avoid conflict. From my years of training and experience, both personally and professionally, I believe in the power of reconnecting with the self and others to heal.

I believe healing is a collaborative venture; you can expect to find in me a therapist that is compassionate, non-judgmental and transparent. My approach is one that uses curiosity to explore, understand and appreciate you wholly - your unique story. Together in this therapeutic exploration, we will exchange the roles of learner and expert to better understand and appreciate one another. Stories are ways in which we explain and understand our past and our present experiences. The stories uncover our beliefs and values, they help to shape and influence our lives. Most importantly, they play a crucial part in our developing future.

I exist to assist the Indigenous Peoples of Canada to achieve sovereignty through the development of coaching leadership skills. Substance use and lateral violence are mechanisms that continue to keep Indigenous Peoples oppressed. This is accomplished through gossip, backstabbing, shunning, and sabotage. We strive to build addiction recovery resiliency to develop and enhance positive coping mechanisms to deal with life on life's terms.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the amount of possessions in your home? Do you struggle with letting go of things that you own? Do you sometimes experience conflict with people in your life about keeping too many things? Are you at times fearful or mistrustful of helpers, as you worry that they may force you to discard things that are important to you? I work extensively with what is clinically known as “hoarding disorder”. Some people find the label helpful, while others believe it to be harmful and stigmatizing – understandably so.

“It could be worse,” “At least this isn’t as bad as what (fill in the blank) is going through,” “You’re not tired, you’re lazy,” “I’ve been in worse situations before,” “I’m lucky, I have a roof over my head and food on the table, so stop complaining," “Other people are going through this and making it work, I should be able to, too.” Have you been saying these things to yourself? You’re not the only one. I’ve had clients tell me how they’re feeling and what they’ve been doing that “should” work but hasn’t and they have no idea why or how everyone else is seemingly coping better under the same circumstances.

Waitlist for new clients
I am on maternity leave and will be returning March 4, 2024 and will be accepting new clients. Hi, my name is Kaitlyn and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with BCACC. Over the past 10 years, I have had the honour of working with teens, adults and seniors struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, self-harm, suicidal ideation, emotion regulation, attachment, relational difficulties and more. I believe emotional and physical safety to be critical components in fostering a trusting and therapeutic relationship throughout sessions. This ensures that the therapeutic journey is reparative rather than re-traumatizing.

In psychotherapy, we work through our unique stories and struggles, build emotional resilience, and develop greater insight into our selves. Working with a psychotherapist allows us to safely reckon with our destructive patterns, and to begin to weave new patterns that better support us. We deepen our awareness of our inner worlds, and in the process, we transform our relationships with ourselves and with each other.

How can I find a therapist in V6A?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

How much does therapy cost?

Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
