Clients often come to me when they decide that survival is no longer enough. Whether it's past trauma, depression, anxiety, disconnection from self, lack of purpose, or lack of hope (etc). As humans, we all carry rocks in our proverbial backpacks. I am awestruck by the human capacity to survive and endure. But sometimes the weight that holds us down becomes so familiar that it is almost comforting. If you are reading this, you have found the courage to ask the question, "What if I allow myself to believe that I deserve better?" I love nothing more than helping clients explore what that might look like, and how to get there.

Life can feel overwhelming as we're caught in the same cycles, but also exhausting as sometimes life just seems to happen to us. I believe clients are the experts of their own lives as no one has walked more in your footsteps, than you. While you might have access to all of this information, it can be tricky to navigate it by yourself. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I'm excited to learn about you and your experiences as we reflect on the various intersecting factors of your life. My therapeutic foundation that facilitates this process is a blend of Emotion-focussed, Solution-focussed, and Somatic therapies.

I support folks to reclaim, explore, and practice coming back to our bodies, feeling feelings, expanding relational possibilities, and embodying permission and more choices toward dignity, aliveness, connection, tenderness, ease, and pleasure. I approach therapeutic work from healing-centred, intersectional feminist, harm reduction, and decolonial frameworks and practices, and draw from interpersonal neurobiology, parts work, politicized somatics, and lineages of energetic medicine.

I have a studio-based practice in Greendale (Chilliwack) BC and also offer sessions online, in clients' homes, or in a private studio space in East Vancouver. I work with children and adults. My person-centred approach to therapy is influenced by attachment theory, systems theory, and over 20 years of experience working with people who have diverse and exceptional needs.
After 10 years of teaching art in elementary and high schools, I made the shift to offer adapted art classes as a service provider to families who school from home. I completed a post-grad diploma program in art therapy to better support the families I work with.

Counseling is, thankfully, no longer considered something reserved for individuals with severe mental health concerns. Today we are increasingly comfortable admitting many would benefit from dedicated space where our personal concerns, challenges, and goals can be carefully tended to. My clients learn quickly that therapy is about dialogue and consistent attention to their sadness, depression, anxiety, worries, and difficulties in different spheres of their lives (relationships, parenting, work, money, environment, to name a few). Clients often seek a deeper sense of purpose and engagement, therapy can help achieve this.

I believe counselling can be a space where we can get to know our authentic selves, where many parts of ourselves can be explored and we can start to resist the boxes that may be confining us. I view counselling as a collaborative process and recognize each person’s natural ability to gravitate toward change at their own pace. The genuine connection of a counselling relationship in a safe enough and inclusive environment is often at the root of healing.

It’s common to feel alone, alienated, maybe even full of self-doubt when life throws hurdles our way. As a fellow human, I have faced a great number of hurdles in my own life, all of which have imprinted on me a deep appreciation, both theoretically and practically, for the need to undo aloneness. I work with individuals facing life transitions, grief and loss, relationship concerns, various mental health diagnoses, parenthood, and separation and divorce, to provide a safe and non-judgmental space to sift through the debris, sometimes in search of the gold, maybe the exit, or sometimes just that elusive way forward.
