Everyday, I witness how trauma, self-doubt, and unresolved problematic patterns create barriers to connection and prevent growth. Unmet needs and unspoken emotions profoundly shape how we relate to ourselves and others, and they often leave us feeling hurt, lonely, and misunderstood. In my practice, we'll make space for every part of you, especially those in need of support, compassion, and validation. Together, we'll explore and embrace each one, allowing you to better understand who you are and what you need. Moreover, this deepened self-awareness and self-acceptance will help you cultivate closer intimate relationships

I offer a space where you don’t have to carry everything alone. Where you can explore new ways of understanding yourself and your story. You may be navigating trauma, cycles of intimate partner violence, anxiety, depression, panic, substance use, or a deep sense of disconnection from yourself or others. You might feel overwhelmed by emotions or unsure how to trust your inner self again. Above all, you want to heal, and the ability to move toward a life that feels more secure, grounded, and aligned with who you truly want to be. To rediscover your power within.

We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future." George Bernard Shaw While working together there is but one expert and, ultimately, one person responsible for your life. That person is you. I consider it an honour to work alongside people who are motivated for change and moving forward in life. We are all very complex and unique I seek to help you identify and address your needs, challenges and goals from a respectful and supportive role. Hi there, thanks for stopping by. Finding a counsellor who feels like the right fit can take time, and sometimes reaching out can be one of the hardest steps. Whether you’re facing something new or carrying something that’s been with you for a long while, therapy can offer a space to pause, reflect, and begin to make sense of what’s happening in your life. My approach is based on person-centred, trauma-informed and intersectional approaches. I often draw from Narrative Therapy, helping clients explore the stories that shape their lives and discover new ways of understanding themselves.

When the world demands we fit in their boxes, it gets hard to be ourselves. We get cut off from the parts we’ve had to hide, or contend with who we've had to become, in order to survive. As a transgender AuDHD system, we feel this deeply. So, I offer what’s helped us: a radically accepting, empowering and understanding space where you can freely explore who you are, or want to be, with no judgements or coercion. We believe everyone, inside and out, is deserving of rights, respect and care. Yes, even the parts you wish weren’t there. You’re not too broken/weird/crazy/dangerous, and you're welcome here, exactly as you are.

Life can be like a river. Sometimes we feel caught in the rapids — everything feels overwhelming and too much. Other times, we find ourselves in stagnant waters, where things feel flat and life becomes a daily slog with little hope. Therapy offers an opportunity to move into the flow — a place where life moves with greater ease, allowing you to pause, consider, and reconnect with joy and meaning.

Hi, I’m John (he/him): a queer counselling intern at East Vancouver Counselling while concluding Master of Counselling at City University. I work with adults navigating grief, identity, addiction, anxiety, depression — and those still trying to find their place and a sense of belonging. Many feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward. At East Van Counselling, I practice within a collaborative group of independent clinicians, which allows me to offer focused one-to-one work while remaining supported by ongoing consultation and supervision.

As your therapist, I hold space for the messy and the profound. Whatever you bring to session will be met with care, curiosity and the occasional well-timed joke. My approach is direct but gentle, validating your experience and emotion while acknowledging your impact. There are no stupid questions in therapy and I welcome your curiosity and imperfection! Through our work together, my clients have described finding an ability to connect with themselves and their chosen relationships with more openness and ease. I am a queer and trans-affirming counsellor and always welcome discussion on cultural and intersectional experiences.

You might be a queer person navigating identity, relationships, or the weight of living in a world that wasn't built for you. Or you're in an ethically non-monogamous relationship (polyamorous, open, or otherwise) and tired of explaining your relationship structure before the real work can even begin. Maybe you're carrying anxiety, burnout, or patterns that keep showing up in your relationships or sense of self. You want to feel more grounded, more connected, and more like yourself. You're not broken. You're someone who's ready to go deeper, and you deserve a space where you don't have to start from scratch explaining who you are.

I work with individuals and couples who feel stuck in patterns that are hard to shift. This might look like conflict that keeps repeating, feeling disconnected, or struggling with anxiety, stress, or substance use. Many people come in wanting to understand why this keeps happening and how to change it. Together, we slow things down, track patterns, and build safety and stability. From there, we make sense of what is underneath and support you in moving toward a more grounded, aligned way of living and relating.

Perhaps you’re here because you’ve reached your tipping point in life, or find yourself reacting in big ways to seemingly small things and feeling out of control with what life has thrown your way. Maybe you’d like to see a shift in how you view yourself and those around you. Whatever struggles you are facing right now, please know that your journey doesn't have to be taken alone. Change is possible when you feel seen, heard, and cared for. Together we can uncover unhelpful patterns, process difficult emotions, and become more deeply connected to ourselves and others.

I endeavour to offer a safe, non-judgmental, collaborative, and compassionate space where my clients feel comfortable expressing their emotions. My stance is trauma-informed and anti-oppressive, and I bring a gentle, grounding presence to my work. Some of the people I have worked with are struggling with ADHD, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and neurodiversity.

"Problems" in our lives often try to lead us to focus solely on resolving or avoiding them at all cost. In both cases, we are forced to sacrifice other parts of ourselves as a result. However, the more we sacrifice, the more "problems" take up of our space and time, leading us to feel overwhelmed and trapped. Despite the pressure to immediately "fix" things, reconnecting instead with our values, core beliefs, needs and aspirations can help create alternatives to problem-saturated narratives and, ultimately, can lead us towards solutions.
