With over 30 years of dedicated service in the mental health and substance use field, I have cultivated a deep and diverse professional background that reflects both my passion for helping others and my commitment to continuous growth. My journey began with a strong desire to support individuals facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives, and over the years, that purpose has only deepened. My experience spans a broad spectrum of settings, including psychiatric emergency services, comprehensive assessments, crisis intervention and case management.

A person’s intimate partner can be one of their greatest sources for pleasure, security, and meaning in life. In such relationships it is NOT normal (or acceptable) to feel isolated, controlled, or demeaned. If this is your experience, I can help. My approach strikes a balance between processing betrayals and regrettable incidents from the past, and ritualising effective practices for building trust, friendship, understanding, and intimacy in the present. I start with a 90-minute assessment, give practical and straight-forward direction, and allow space for each person’s story to unfold.

I work weekends/evenings as well as weekdays, in person (Shawnessy Calgary) or online. I believe in the resilience of the human spirit and our ability to heal. I also know that we can get lost, and having someone support us as we navigate our path back to health can be life-changing. Therapy can be scary, and you may not be sure where to start. This is a shared experience, and together we will work to put the presenting problem into words and create a plan for our work. If you have made it this far in your search, you are looking for something. Even if you can not put it into words let's chat. I look forward to working with you.

Seeking help is not a weakness, it is a sign of strength and courage - and it's smart. I know. I've done and continue to do it....and it has changed me for the better. It has helped me metabolize life, to navigate pain, and heal from trauma. To "re·solve" means: settle or find an answer or solution; to rectify; sort out; or deal with; decide firmly on a course of action; determine or make a commitment to do something; separate into components; dissolve or disintegrate; reduce or divide; analyze, dissect, categorize; disperse; subside or heal; to move from dissonance to consonance or harmony; to be changed or transformed.

My clients want a safe place where they will be deeply heard, understood, and validated. Many of my clients had childhoods that lacked nurturing. Most are dealing with a lot of stress in adult life. I support people who are facing self-care and worthiness struggles, unresolved emotional wounds, body acceptance and battles with diet culture, chronic illness/pain, disability, work stress, anxiety, depression, relationship/family conflict, gender and sexual identity topics, and grief/loss. In my office you can enjoy a complimentary beverage, unload what weighs on your heart, and leave feeling supported and more hopeful.

Currently on maternity leave. Our feelings, thoughts, and relationships can be messy. Sometimes, it all feels like it’s just too much. I know what that’s like. I also know it’s a little bit easier when, instead of turning away, someone chooses to sit with you in those moments and says: "This isn’t too much. You’re not (insert terrible thing you fear is true about you). You don’t have to hold this alone.” I believe that’s my job as a therapist – to sit with you in the midst of all that messiness and help you hold the painful and overwhelming parts. From there, we can work together to untangle it and move towards your goals.

Our past can impact us in ways we don’t always understand. Sometimes it shows up in our body in unexplained illness or pain. We might find ourselves reacting in a big way to seemingly small things that happen in our day-to-day life, or struggling with anger or anxiety that feel out of our control. We might have a sense of being disconnected or detached from ourselves or the world around us, or a feeling of being empty, numb, or lost. Often we struggle to trust, to experience intimacy, and to form stable relationships. All of this can leave us feeling overwhelmed and hopeless – like we are just broken and nothing will ever change.

We all go through different challenges throughout our lives and at times we may feel stuck. Depression, anxiety and trauma can hold us back from living the lives we want to live and it can impact our relationships. Each person, including you, possesses the strength within themselves to overcome whatever it may be that is holding them back from their best life. It is important to rely and focus on those strengths during those times. Together, we will identify your strengths and continue to build upon them.

My approach to therapy is based on attachment theory and interpersonal neurobiology. I provide trauma-informed and evidence-based care to facilitate a deep, compassionate exploration of your experiences. Our relationship is the foundation - it is here that we do the work that leads to growth and healing. In order to make changes (from big picture, bucket list goals, to coping with mental illness and stress, to tolerating the everyday experiences that shape our lives), we need to view ourselves and our histories realistically. We need to make meaning of our lives.

I help people quiet their inner critic and relate to themselves with more compassion — so they can show up fully in their work, relationships, and goals. My clients learn to manage their overwhelming emotions, voice their needs, and have access to a safe space to process all the stuff going on in their head. My trauma-informed approach always has the nervous system in mind, so I offer body-based tools for self regulation as well as practical strategies based in attachment science.

The Centre for Psychodynamic Insights is a virtual clinic specializing in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This approach explores the root causes of symptoms by uncovering and understanding underlying emotions through evidence-based treatment. Through collaborative dialogue, we examine unconscious thoughts and emotions shaped from childhood to the present. We work to relieve symptoms by understanding how these patterns affect current experiences, and create targeted strategies for meaningful change long-term.

Life has difficult seasons and at times there appears to be no rays of sunshine penatrating the dark clouds surrounding us. It is in these times, especially, we often ask the difficult questions like, "why God?" Will these hard-aches ever stop? Can positive change occur? It has been my personal experience through walking in seasons of darkness that light does continually shine but the heartache and pain often blocks our senses and even our faith gets tested beyond what we believe is sustainable. My goal as a counsellor is to encourage my clients to continue to seek practical and spiritual insight and watch how our eternal God moves.
