We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive space for healing. We work from a trauma-informed and liberation lens taking into account the diversity of humans and our experiences. We all experience pains in our lifetime, and for some of us the pain started in childhood. It takes strength and courage to reach out for support. We enter therapy hoping for deeper insight and healing by telling our story. We prepare to be vulnerable in a safe space to heal our wounds. At Solidarity Therapy we are registered clinical counsellors specializing in trauma-informed interventions. Check out our team below!

Healing is rarely a steady slope and predictable process, yet I hold hope that everyone has the resources to work towards experiencing freedom even in deep pits of pain. I've witnessed that the relationships we have with ourselves, others and God are powerfully impactful. Our relationships with others are often the site of our deepest hurt. However, it's also safe relationships where you can show up without shame, that create space where we experience healing. I hope to help others discover their strengths and find beauty in what feels like life’s ashes. So what happens when you walk into my office?

Whether you’re new to therapy or a returning client, welcome! Starting this process can be challenging. Are you possibly feeling stuck, lost, alone, frustrated? Discouraged with how to move forward, towards what matters to you, authentic you? Confused and/or curious about self-identity, sexuality, intimacy, sex, relationships? Are you asking yourself how do I navigate feelings of fear and/or other emotions? What is preventing me from feeling safe, accepted, and connected? I’d be honoured to support you in finding clarity, connection, and courage. “Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen”-Brene Brown

My goal is to be a rock-steady supportive force in my client’s lives as we work, first, to make the most out of the adversities and suffering they encounter, and then, to help fulfill their vision of a life worth living. With fierce compassion and companionship, cultural humility, coping skills, solution-focused strategies, and a dash of existential humor, I cater to my clients as unique human beings with individual needs. I intimately know what it’s like to not have a safe space where you can be seen for who you truly are, so I understand how exceptionally important it is for my clients to have our therapy be that secure base.

I hold firmly that there is something sacred about the work that we do together in therapy. To do deep, healing work together, I hope that our space feels safe, warm, empathetic, and authentic. I particularly enjoy helping people connect with parts of themselves they've felt disconnected from for some time, whether that be self-esteem, wants and needs, emotions, etc. I believe that relationships are vital for change, and I believe that the work we do within the therapeutic relationship will help you connect more with yourself and with the most important people in your life.

You may have spent years caring for everyone else and feel worn down in a way rest doesn’t fix. You might feel overwhelmed, overthinking, and trying to hold too much. Maybe you live with chronic pain, illness, or neurodivergence, and you’re tired of feeling scattered or as though life is just “too much.” You want a quiet, supportive space where you can slow down, feel understood, and reconnect with the parts of yourself you’ve had to set aside. Mostly, you want relief, clarity, and a way forward that feels gentler and more true to you.

You may be carrying the weight of trauma and the stories that come with it—stories shaped by culture, identity, family, or painful experiences that have left you feeling unseen or overwhelmed. You don’t have to hold these alone. In our work together, I offer a warm and supportive space where your story is honoured, your needs are heard, and healing can begin at your own pace.

Oftentimes we feel ‘stuck’ as though no movement forward is possible, or that our story is too complex to navigate and find healing from. Through my own experience, and in journeying alongside others, I have come to believe that freedom and life, even in the midst of significant pain and loss is possible. My clinical approach is unique, as I seek to incorporate the spiritual journey of the client, as understood through a Christian worldview, into the therapeutic process. I work using a parallel process of deepening your understanding of Self, and of God as you begin to reflect on your story.

Hello! I'm Sharaya. I focus on supporting individuals and couples. Being human can be painfully difficult and stunningly beautiful all at once. In the counselling space, I would love for you to come and find solace in our sessions, as we journey together towards more clarity, a greater sense of self, feeling more at home in your body, and uncovering what makes you, you. There is real power in being understood and having someone honor the experiences that have shaped us. It would be a privilege and a joy to bear witness to your humanity and story as I sit across from you as a human, too.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the weight of anxiety, grief, or relationship challenges? Whether it’s the pain of abuse, neglect, a difficult separation, family estrangement, or the grief that follows sudden (suicide, homicide, automobile accident) or unrecognized (health, job, identity) losses, it’s common to feel unseen and misunderstood. Symptoms of anxiety and depression often arise alongside these challenges, deepening one’s sense of isolation. You don’t have to carry this alone—I’m here to navigate this with you.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counselling

How can I find a therapist in V1M?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, postal code, or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postal code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.

Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
