I tend to work primarily with kids, youth and adults who want to work through topics of ADHD, Addiction, Harm Reduction and Trauma. I also love working with folks who hate the idea of counselling. I base my work primarily off of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Nature Assisted Therapy which are a bunch of counselling lingo to say that I work with folks online, in nature, and through adventure (rock climbing, hiking, etc) to talk about life, explore different ways of thinking, and set goals you feel good about.

For me, the ideal client is someone who is committed to their own healing journey and understands that participating in therapy is a lifelong process. I deeply believe that everyone deserves to live a fulfilling and happy life, and that seeking therapy is a courageous step towards achieving that. As a therapist, I have found that the most rewarding experiences come from working with clients who are willing to put in the effort and dedication to their own growth and healing. I feel honored to walk alongside these clients on their journey, providing support, guidance, and compassion as they navigate the ups and downs of life.

My clients and I have addressed their depression, anxiety, emotional struggles, and trouble getting along with others. I greatly enjoy working with adults of all ages and life stages. I work psychodynamically and interpersonally, providing individuals with respect, empathy, and acceptance. Further, I provide the necessary encouragement and support for making difficult but important life changes. Many of my clients have found that therapy has helped them to feel a new sense of freedom and enthusiasm, both within themselves and in their relationships with friends, family, and co-workers.

The issues that I deal a lot with are trauma, stress, anxiety, and depression. My ideal client would want to create goals and strategies that can help produce change in their lives. I have found that creating a safe space, where collaboration, openness, mutual trust, and self-awareness can lead to an attitude of change and a willingness to do so.

I have a passion for being active. Following this passion, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science and a Master’s Degree in Sport Psychology. I have had the privilege of working with student-athletes, providing mental training for athletes and coaches, and coaching gymnastics across the US and Canada. I have used these experiences during my sessions with weekend warriors, athletes, coaches, and even those who hate sport. As I worked with these individuals, I saw the challenges they faced also affected their families. This prompted me to continue my education to add a focus on Marriage and Family therapy.

It all begins with a first step. Maybe you're feeling burnt out or want to make a change. Perhaps you are exploring some of life's deeper questions. Or maybe you want to find your voice through creativity. Whatever it is, the way we approach your path can make all the difference. Often it is hard to describe the kind of change we are seeking, we just know that things can't continue as they are. That feeling of uncertainty that comes with new terrain is common, and part of my role as a therapist is to assist you in exploring and defining your needs as they evolve.

Much of life is figuring out who we are, where we are going, and how to navigate the challenges and obstacles that get in the way. Jeremy's training and interests have an integrative and person-centered approach. He uses a foundation in the science of the brain and nervous system to inform how these effect emotion, behaviour, and how we attach and bond to others. This approach, in combination with exploring the importance of your background, beliefs and experiences, is aimed at creating a safe and therapeutic environment for you.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

How much does therapy cost?

Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
