I am the founder and sole therapist of Umoja Guidance Inc. I offer individual, couple and family therapy sessions. I provide a genuine and down to earth approach when interacting with my clients. The focus of sessions will be to assist with clients achieving their goals using a strength based approach. I believe everyone has strengths that can be identified to help them resolve challenging situations. There are various treatment methods I use based on the need. I am very flexible and understanding of peoples life schedules and am always willing to provide sessions that accommodate my clients busy schedule.
I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). The objective is to eliminate symptoms associated to stress and trauma; however it can has also been used to eliminate panic attacks, phobias, intrusive thoughts, depression, and over-reactive anger. I also specialize in family mediation and custody and access.
I worked with child and adolescent behavior for over 25 years. I have experience working with community partners and I am aware of the resources that are available in the community. I worked with youth that are involved in the YCJA and CFSA and have knowledge of the legal system.
