I specialize in long-term psychoanalytic psychotherapy for adults and teens with depression and anxiety issues, as well as borderline, antisocial, and narcissistic personality disorders that other therapists may be unwilling to treat. People with psychosis are also invited to reach out. This therapy is for people who are stuck in patterns of stagnation or self-destruction that they feel they cannot control, as well as for people looking to get to know themselves in a new way.
In session, I try to help people better understand how their own mind works from the inside and support them in becoming a new kind of friend to their own self. This is done collaboratively in the context of a unique therapy relationship, where patients are encouraged to share their thoughts in what may be a previously unimagined level of 'un-censorship'.
We will then play 'detective' to connect and make sense of this emotional 'data' that may be impossible to see or understand alone. This may include unconscious conflicts that appear in all of one's relationships, but which in the therapy relationship can be safely worked through, liberating one to have new more fulfilling experiences with others.
