About

You may not show it, but you feel stuck. Your anxiety and fears prevent you from taking steps forward. Instead, you find yourself procrastinating and avoiding. You are consumed by doubt and overwhelmed by worry and unwanted, intrusive, uncontrollable thoughts. You try hard to avoid those thoughts, but they keep coming back. The more you fight them, the stickier they become. You try to tell yourself that the thoughts are meaningless, but somehow you feel you can never be sure. What if after all, something horrible will happen? What if the thoughts mean something important? Your friends and family keep telling you not to worry and explain that everything is just in your head. This reassurance helps for a bit, but very soon you are back to endless "What if? " questions. You tried therapy before. The therapist tried to convince you that what you fear is unlikely to happen and taught you relaxation, breathing, meditation, and thought records. But it didn't help and made you even more hopeless. You'd like to break free from your worries and fears and start living your life. If you are reading this profile, you may be finally considering making a significant change. We are here to help!
We specialize in the treatment of OCD and anxiety disorders (Panic, Agoraphobia, Social Anxiety, GAD), using CBT, ERP, & ACT approaches. We also provide parental consultations and work with children & youth. Our approach is results-oriented and includes practical suggestions that will help you change the way you deal with challenging life situations. We thoroughly assess the problem, monitor your progress, ask for your feedback, and adjust the content and process of the sessions to meet your needs. You will learn to not let your worries stop you from living your best life.
Our therapists have been selected from hundreds of applicants based on their up-to-date knowledge, down-to-earth style, diverse life experience, and willingness to engage in continuous professional development. We provide 24/7 online scheduling, several clinics across the GTA, and VideoTherapy. If you'd like to learn about our no-nonsense, evidence-based approach to therapy, please read our blog about anxiety-related topics. Give us a call or visit our website www.turningpointpsychology.ca now to learn more about our clinic or to schedule an appointment!

Turning Point Psychological Services, OCD &Anxiety's Groups

OCD Group - Currently runs ONLINE

This is a therapist-led psycho-education/support group for people ages 18 years and older who suffer from OCD. The goal is to learn about OCD and its treatment, take steps toward recovery, and receive support and encouragement. The group is semi-structured. It includes psycho-education, group discussions of predetermined OCD-related topics, personal goal (“homework”) planning, and some free social time, during which you may talk with other participants informally. The group will allow you to connect to other people who suffer from OCD and know what it's like to live with it.
