I offer an integrative approach that's collaborative, trauma-informed/specific and compassion focused.
*I currently only offer virtual sessions* Welcome to my profile. First and foremost, I want to acknowledge your courage to seek support and every effort that brought you to this point in your journey. The human experience is deeply complex and we all need a gentle voice to guide us through transitions and challenges (myself included). I believe most mental health challenges stem from our innate desire to survive and connect with others - we are human after all. By becoming aware of your relational patterns and emotional responses, you can foster better understanding of yourself and others.

My professional experience includes working with a wide range of therapeutic issues, such as: depression, trauma, PTSD, anxiety, grief, self-esteem, cultural-specific issues, LGBTQIA+ specific issues, life transitions, interpersonal issues, and more.
I believe mental health must recognize individualism. This is influenced by my own experience as a first-generation Indo-Canadian. My key values include empowering clients while creating a safe, collaborative approach. You are the storyteller of your life, and my role is to support you while you write, edit, and enhance the pages. My clients have shared that I provide a genuine, non-judgmental presence and atmosphere while they explore their thoughts and emotions, gain insight into their behaviours, and develop effective steps to enhance their well-being. You can expect a therapeutic setting that is professional, yet relaxed.

I am trauma informed, culturally sensitive, and systemically oriented.
This wasn’t supposed to happen! How often do we find ourselves in situations that we thought we wouldn’t be in, and yet here we are? Perhaps we thought we had our sh-t figured out, and yet our circumstances have shown us otherwise. I’ve seen this unfold in my own life, and in the lives of my clients. Maybe it’s time to look a little bit deeper, and go further back into your life than you thought you ever had to for answers. Whatever is bringing you here could represent an opportunity for real healing and growth, and I would be honoured to be able go through this journey with you.

I believe in a holistic and evidence-based approach to therapy that includes drawing from culturally-inclusive, strength-based, trauma-informed, emotionally-focused and attachment-based modalities.
It can be difficult to reach out for support when we feel as though we are caught in the currents of life. Perhaps you've momentarily lost track of your anchor and don't know how to find your way back or maybe you've been floating in the ocean for as long as you remember. Your circumstances and experiences are unique, but you don't have to be alone on your journey. I strive to use my professional training and unique insight from my lived experience to create a safe, non-judgmental and collaborative space where you can be free to explore your identity, experiences and internal processes.

However, if these emotions hinder your progress, ignoring them won't make them go away. It's crucial to acknowledge your fears, pinpoint their origins, and take proactive steps to overcome them for your well-being.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
