About
Hi there! I am a registered social worker, having worked in clinical research in mental health and addictions for 2 decades. I started my journey in the field of Attachment, specializing in adolescent depression and the impact of early childhood on later interpersonal relationships and mental health. In the years following I worked primarily in large teaching hospitals, local mental health facilities, and community settings, engaging a broad range of partners, including persons living with serious mental illness, children and adolescents, survivors of trauma, the LGBTTQ2+ community and immigrant women, to name a few.
Although grounded in attachment theory, and experienced in cognitive behaviour therapy, motivational interviewing and other therapeutic modalities, my focus remains client-centred: I work with you to explore your needs, wants and goals for therapy. In doing so, I acknowledge your own lived experiences within a broader biopsychosocial world.
I strive to maintain a primary focus on relationship development and nurturance within the therapeutic setting, moving beyond the therapeutic modality employed, toward a partnership built on mutual respect. You are the expert in your own life, and I, a partner accompanying you on your journey towards improved mental health and well-being
