Parenting isn’t easy and kids and teens don’t come with a handbook. We put high expectations on ourselves to be “good parents” and are often left feeling inadequate and overwhelmed. Kids' behaviour can be baffling and for parents whose child has received a mental health diagnosis wondering "what do we do now" are common. I created Thriving Families Counselling to provide a place in which parents could receive new understanding of their child or teen, explore how their own life experiences have influenced their approach to parenting and for families together to learn new ways to create healthy communication and functioning.
In addition to working with parents, I also have a passion for supporting women who are experiencing the emotional impact of pregnancy, PPMD, PDD and perimenopause/menopause. Symptoms associated with these conditions can feel debilitating, and counselling can be helpful in relieving symptoms, restoring well being and helping you to feel like yourself again
I believe that for counselling to be successful a warm, trusting, and genuine therapeutic relationship is essential. I see each client as a unique individual and tailor my approach based on their specific needs and personality. I look forward to hearing from you and beginning the journey together toward making positive change for you and for your family
