My clients dare to make changes because they want to feel like themselves again or they seek a better quality of life. Through varying approaches, I work to empower individuals to find solutions to overwhelming emotional challenges. These may be instances of divorce, abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, work/family stress; all areas in which I have professional training and over 30 years experience. In addition to being an EMDR therapist, I have a solid background in trauma work, and am a qualified Gottman and Emotion Focused couples therapist. I am formerly a Clinical Supervisor and School Mental Health Leader.
As a trauma therapist, I encourage your active participation in the assessment and treatment process; especially in practicing behavioural and coping techniques. The gold standard of treatment involves soothing symptoms to create a good foundation for processing issues. I use Ego State work, CBT, or EMDR to help reach mind, emotion, and body alike.
Relationships often suffer in relation to trauma or unexpected events. I have training in the Gottman couples approach as well as in Emotion Focused Therapy. As such I can ensure a well-rounded approach for couples addressing hurt, betrayal, power imbalances, and communication issues.
