Being in persistent pain is so hard. It affects not only the way you feel in your body, but also how much you can do things. It also affects your emotions as well as your relationships. Sometimes people in persistent pain feel stuck in a cycle of doubts, disability, isolation and suffering, specially in cases where all medical options have been tried unsuccessfully and they seem to be saying "it's all in your head". Usually, people in persistent pain feel that they have no control over their pain and even over their lives, as if pain dictated everything that happens to them. There are many challenges, but they can be overcome.
There has been a revolution in the understanding of pain, recently. Science now shows that the more one understands the modern science of pain, the less pain they have. Getting help in this process is important, so that you feel supported and your pain system can regulate, allowing neuroplasticity, changing the way you do things and how you feel.
Having studied pain neuroscience in a Master's in Kinesiology at UBC, being trained in psychotherapy, yoga and eutony somatic practice, as well as in multi-disciplinary pain management, I offer you an integrative approach to help you befriend your body. My approach comprehends physical, cognitive, emotional, autonomic and experiential levels.
