I am a real person living a real life, navigating oppressive systems, and fighting for a better tomorrow for all taking wins among the losses. I am a part of our shared struggle first, before I am a therapist. Three things you might find interesting. 1. I understand how much this society sucks, deeply, personally, and systemically. I know how often the wrong side wins, how often people who believe in justice fight against yours, what it is like to face a roomful of people committed to misunderstanding you. 2. I use all my senses to "listen" to you. I do not buy into the "mind vs body" binary, but I do believe words are limiting.
3. Recent conversations revolve a lot around techniques and "modalities." While I am trained in several, the heart of psychotherapy is how authentically the therapist shows up ("congruence") and being with the client deeply ("empathy"). That is my strength. I am a part of 2S.LGBTQIA+ (enby afab), immigrant, disability, and racialized, or BIPOC, communities
I believe that the best way to know if a therapist is a fit for you or not is to take a free consult, see how it feels to talk. If it feels too vulnerable to talk about your struggles with a stranger, talk about anything, like your favourite show or hobby. You deserve to work with someone you like talking to.
