From a place of compassion, non-judgment, and curiosity, I work with clients of all ages, in French or English, to help them identify conscious and unconscious patterns of thoughts, core beliefs and behaviours that impact their current way of being in the world. I work with clients in mindfulness and self-attunement, connecting to the body's wisdom in order to make sense of their experiences. Clients are supported toward meaningful change that is sustained through updated beliefs, increased skills, improved self-awareness and a new way of standing in the world.

Facing life’s challenges alone can be overwhelming. I am committed to creating an open and safe environment for individuals to share, engage, learn, and reflect. Working from a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive approach, I strive to ensure that everyone I work with feels welcomed, understood, and valued. I believe that this is the way to heal and I invite the whole person: body, feelings, inner parts, culture, and social location, into a healing space. Healing and wholeness are possible with empathy and connection.

Our world is ever-changing and demanding more of us each day. This can make us feel like we are falling behind and sinking into quicksand. When this happens, anxiety, stress, depression, panic, and other harmful feelings emerge. Society gives us the message that we should be able to deal with all of these things on our own and, worse yet, that our feelings are not even real. I am here to say your feelings are legitimate, that you count, and there is a way to work through them. Together we can create goals that work towards coping with daily activities and then thriving within your life. My service dog, Goliath, will also be there!

Life is messy. That's all there is to it. Sometimes the mess is manageable...even beautiful. But sometimes, it can be overwhelming and distressing... As Dr. Suess says, sometimes the mess is "so big and so deep and so tall" you have absolutely no idea where to start the process of sorting it out. It is particularly challenging when the tangled mess involves difficult thoughts, big feelings, and important relationships. All of us need some help sorting things out sometimes. If you are ready to sort through this kind of mess, but need help figuring out how to do that, I can help.

Are you a "big feeler"? Have you always been considered emotional or sensitive? Big feelers are often filled with worries about the future and overwhelmed by the present. You might spend a lot of time dealing with racing thoughts and fears. It's difficult to feel like you're living a secret life where no one knows how much you struggle. You might even feel like no one really knows you. You might wish you could just turn your brain off for a while and not feel so deeply impacted by everything.

I work with clients who are experiencing concerns related to trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, communication, self-worth, and emotion regulation. My clients and I work together to look for ways to not only work through these concerns but also find ways to live with them authentically by normalizing that it is okay to have these experiences. Healing ourselves from some of our past adversities and experiences can be a journey full of difficult emotions, and I want to create a space where we welcome all of those emotions. I invite the growth as well as the discomfort that our healing brings, for they are both part of the journey.

My belief is that psychology is not a “one size fits all” solution. Just as each person differs through their personality, qualities, and life experiences, so does the healing journey and plan of care for each individual client. If you are looking to understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and where they might stem from, you are in the right place. I work primarily with youth and adults who struggle with symptoms of depression, anxiety, symptoms of trauma, and who are dealing with increased stress overcoming life events.

How can I find a therapist in T7X?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

How much does therapy cost?

Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
