I specialize in supporting couples to reconnect and find their love for each other. I believe in how "we exist within relationships" What is your story? Are you and your partner experiencing a lack of communication, connection, intimacy, or are you struggling to navigate conflict or infidelity? These concerns could be lead to developing negative interacting patterns, feeling stuck, lost, depressed, angry, frustrated, overwhelmed and being unsure of how to move forward. I am a trauma-focused, non-judgemental, and culturally sensitive couple and family therapist. I offer therapy in English and Spanish.

I believe that therapy is about seeking your best you, a life lived by the call of your spirit. And it’s about the whole you, because problems do not exist alone, but always in the larger context of daily life. What is it that you won't stand for anymore, what are you most longing to change? At the heart of my practice is working alongside people to find their own voice and live by their own values - not someone else's. Sustained change can come with clarity and with finding new ways to look at the problem.

Life can be unexpected and hard. Just as we experience physical injury, we can also experience life circumstances impact our mental health. On-going stress, past experiences, or challenging situations (e.g. global pandemic, loss, increasing job demands, isolation, ect.), can have an enormous impact on our well-being, causing both emotional and physical distress. Using a practical and evidence-based approach, I work with clients to effectively reduce symptom of stress, anxiety, or trauma; to navigate challenging experiences, and promote lasting change in health and life desired.

In challenging times such as those we are experiencing today, it is only normal to feel overwhelmed, anxious, angry and sad. Our world and the life we knew have changed. Some of us lost their jobs, some of us lost activities which were close to their hearts, some of us lost their dreams and plans, and some of us lost their loved ones. Covid-19 constitutes a universal struggle, and it also imposes additional distress for some of us who were already coping with mental health issues. While Covid-19 forces distance, you don't need to be alone with your pain. I believe that every struggle is also an opportunity for personal growth.

Stress, anxiety, grief and unexpected life challenges can create a sense of overwhelm and sometimes we find ourselves needing support to navigate these difficulties. I believe there is no need to be in crisis or to have mental health issues to benefit from counselling. As a Psychotherapist, Certified Canadian Counsellor, and Professional Art Therapist I listen and follow the client’s lead in determining what will best meet their specific needs. I am honoured to work with children, adolescents and adults. Be assured that no art experience is required to benefit from art therapy as the focus is on the process and not the end product.

What type of mental health professional is right for me?
Some of the most common types of mental health providers in T3G are psychologists, licensed counselors, therapists, psychotherapists, and licensed clinical social workers, all of whom diagnose mental health conditions and provide individualized treatment.

Services offered, education and credentials vary by type of mental health professional. Each professional in T3G then may specialize in certain areas, such as depression, marriage counseling, or anxiety. Although many mental health providers are not licensed to prescribe medication, they may coordinate with a provider who can.

Both in-person and online therapy sessions are available from most psychologists.

How to find a specialist?
You can refine your search using the filters on this page. There are several categories you can filter by to find mental health professionals with the experience you are looking for. You may want to filter for CBT Psychologists in T3G, or Child Psychologists in T3G.

Many find it useful to use filters to view only psychologists that have experience working with certain issues, like T3G psychologists specializing in EMDR.

What method of therapy is right for me?
When it comes to treatment methods, there's no 'right way.’ Each method of therapy can be beneficial for a variety of issues. Psychologists in T3G specialize in therapeutic approaches such as CBT, EMDR, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), among others. Finding a psychologist or therapist who is a good fit for you is the most important step to discovering what type of therapy, or combination of therapeutic approaches, will meet your individual needs. Learn what to expect from different types of therapy and how they work.

How to use my insurance?
Many therapists accept health insurance. Check to see if your insurance is covered. Feel free to discuss this when you contact the therapist.
