Most of how we feel, respond and think is based on unconscious patterning beliefs. I am committed to providing a safe and compassionate space for you to feel welcomed where ever you are at. By shedding light on what is unconscious through the pathway of increased awareness major transformation, healing and new neural connections can occur. The secret to feeling more ease lies in examining the core issues that are causing the distress and look directly into those places that we are avoiding. This approach arises from my experience that lasting change occurs when metal, physical, emotional and spiritual systems are all involved.

Watered Heart Counselling was formed to help individuals live an optimal life. We believe habits create the condition of your heart. Out of the heart flows the issues of life! When a heart is broken, dull, hardened, scolded, numb or dysfunctional not only does it interrupt the flow of life, but it can suffocate and cut off one’s ability to function. Here at watered heart, we believe life is not the inclusion of everything or the avoidance of anything. Living a balanced and optimal life is one’s ability to adapt to life’s challenges while heading to a destination. Life is a means to an end…and the end should always be intentional.

I believe in connection over anything else. I work through an attachment and emotion focused lens, meaning that I emphasize the importance of your relationships, the growth of self through intention, and help identify those underlying emotions getting in your way and causing you to repeat the same life patterns. I work by bringing forward awareness, accessing unacknowledged emotions, creating change, and pointing out incongruences. My role is to help you feel understood, more informed, and hopeful.

Many folks come to me feeling overwhelmed, confused, or disconnected from their emotions or behaviours. They find themselves feeling triggered in relationships, or shy away from sharing their authentic selves with others. Some have significant struggles with their focus and can't consistently complete tasks they know are well within their abilities. When we don't know how or why this happens, a sense of powerlessness and shame creeps into our lives. Confronting these issues and changing these patterns is challenging, vulnerable, and worth it.

Looking for something different? Maybe traditional talk therapy wasn’t working for you. Art therapy utilizes creative expression – in any way you want and need it – to further explore thoughts and emotions. Combining counselling and art therapy, we are making the internal, external in a tangible way. Sometimes words aren’t enough to depict exactly how we are feeling, and that’s where art comes in.We have been using art throughout history to express trauma, events, and emotions.

How can I find a therapist in T2A?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

How much does therapy cost?

Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $300 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
