Susan McGowan, BSW, MSW, is a Registered Clinical Social Worker (AB), RSW (ON, NB). For 30 years, I have worked with children, adolescents and adults living with stress, depression, anxiety, anger, addictions and trauma. I am interested in helping people build upon their own strengths to better understand, manage, and express their emotions, thoughts, and behaviours. I will help you build and develop new skills to meet your life goals. If you're not sure what your goals are, I can help you with that too. People value my genuine nature and my ability to build strong working relationships with clients.
Years of professional practice and specialized training in Mindfulness, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Hope Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) allows me to assist you to live your best life.
I believe that self-compassion is the greatest gift that we can give ourselves. I strive to treat everyone with empathy, respect, and kindness. I have the skills necessary to work with people who have experienced trauma including CAF, Veterans, First Responders and their families, and First Nations, Inuit, and Metis people.
