I specialize in the treatment of trauma-related issues such as PTSD, complex PTSD (childhood or ongoing abuse or neglect), Addictions, Anxiety and Depression. I use evidence-based therapeutic approaches of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), along with a range of other therapeutic components that are research informed. My philosophy is that the psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of a person all work together as an integrative whole and are ideally treated from this perspective in order to restore balanced living.

Our experiences shape us. The residue of the past can stick to us in different ways: feeling numb or feeling so much intense emotion that it's hard to cope; difficulty setting boundaries or struggling to bring people close; feeling unsafe, fearful, and distrusting; self-doubt and shame; having a hard time allowing creativity, calm, and joy. It's so easy to forget that even in the most painful, lonely, and violent moments of our lives, we were growing. I fundamentally believe that we are resilient as hell. We learned to survive! And perhaps survival mode is now getting in the way of feeling truly alive, present, and connected.

I am a registered psychotherapist, social worker, family mediator and professor emeritus from the University of Toronto.
