Challenging situations can happen suddenly, or be built up over time, leaving us caught off guard or uncertain of the way forward. Throughout my career I have developed an expertise in counselling people going through distressing or unexpected life circumstances or difficult relationship dynamics. I assist people with grief and loss, relationship strain or change, workplace conflict, bullying, exhaustion/burnout, stress management, or anything which keeps them awake at night. If something has happened to you out of the blue, or you're fed up with some cycle in your life that keeps repeating itself, I can help you move through it.

I have experience working alongside communities affected by intergenerational trauma, and I frequently work with adults and youth impacted by childhood trauma, anxiety, and stress.
Are you feeling overwhelmed or disconnected from yourself and from others? Are you struggling with distressing thoughts and feelings? Are you desiring to understand yourself better and to nourish aspects of yourself that have been dormant? Perhaps you are seeking a space to feel witnessed, supported, and understood. Together, we can explore where you are coming from, what is holding you back, and where you want to go. My experience as a counsellor continues to teach me about the transformative possibilities that exist as we dissolve the sense of aloneness that so many of us feel.

Welcome! Whilst it's really hard to be with our suffering when it arises, the fact that it has come to our awareness indicates that it's a good time to explore it with support. We don't have to bear the burden of our unhappiness, stress and confusion alone. It can be wonderfully reorienting when our personal experience is deeply heard, held and respected, with skill and open-heartedness. Often helping us find fresh perspective on the way forward. This is the gift we offer ourselves, when we take the time to engage in healthy therapeutic relationship. My work has been a joy to me and I would be delighted to hear from you.

Anxiety has become one of the most prominent mental health issues in the world. The fast-paced world that we live conditions many of us to believe that high anxiety levels are the norm and while healthy levels of stress can keep us motivated. Excessive and ongoing feelings of anxiety and worry can negatively impact both our health, and our ability to function at an optimal level. Often, these feelings stem from our past and appear in our present – negatively impacting our daily life.

I would like to acknowledge that reaching out for support takes courage, especially in the midst of stress and strain.
My name is Alicja (she/her), and I am a first generation Canadian of Polish heritage. I am also a senior doctoral student completing my Clinical Psychology degree under the supervision of Dr. Chris Cardoso. If you have a history of trauma, get stuck in self-critical thought spirals, struggle with emotion regulation (e.g., anxiety, shame, anger), have relationship challenges (e.g., making requests and/or setting boundaries), grapple with questions about your identity, are processing grief, or overall feeling “stuck” in life, I invite you to consider whether my approach might align well with the person you are striving to grow into.

If you are going through a life transition (Breakup, Job change, move), struggle with stress and overwhelm, agitation, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, lack of focus, notice repeating self-defeating behaviour patterns and Obsessive-compulsive tendencies, know you are not alone. This is not all of you. We can find meaning in our circumstances and transform challenges into growing experiences. I believe you have the strength to move beyond surviving and enjoy life. Even if you don't know why you are struggling, know it is okay to start in a place of uncertainty.

Most of my clients haven't found relief. They've been to many different therapists without resolution. They are not interested in using medication to resolve their PTSD, Complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress, or self-esteem issues. They may have considered suicide or used other control behavior to help them self-regulate their emotions. They typically have experienced childhood trauma through verbal, sexual, neglect and/or physical abuse that has invaded their adult lives. Or, they may have had entirely normal childhoods not feeling their experience was different from others yet still have the above side effects.
