I embrace that the symptoms you are experiencing are part of a larger whole. Together, we can work to create healing, meaning and clarity for you, on a mental, emotional, somatic and spiritual level. Our sessions are informed by your unique position within time, culture and the fabric of our society. I am 2SLGBTQ aligned, ENM informed and work from a harm reduction, anti-capitalist, feminist lens. I have experience working with depression, anger, anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, people pleasing, life transitions, substance use, BPD and more. Consent is a big part therapy and I welcome your no, as much as I welcome your yes.

I incorporate somatic (body-based) work into therapy to access deeper emotions.
Hi there, I'm Kira. Have you been feeling lost, stuck or overwhelmed with your mental health? Maybe you've been wanting things to change but can't quite get there. Or maybe you don't know where or how to start. It can be tough to confront our challenges and obstacles alone. Together, we can work towards better understanding you, overcoming challenges, finding new ways to cope, and living the life that you deserve. In our therapy sessions, I will work with you to better understand yourself and achieve the change that you've been hoping for. Whatever it might be, you are not alone.

I recently completed Level 2 training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a trauma-focused and attachment-based somatic therapy.
Hello and welcome! I'm a queer, transmasculine therapist with a background in health and community-based work, as well as in music, writing, and theatre. I draw upon a range of strengths-based and trauma-informed therapy approaches with the intention of increasing my clients' capacity to safely connect to themselves and to move toward ways of living and relating that affirm them in their wholeness. I aim to be an active and supportive presence in the therapy process, and to work in a way that is guided by the political frameworks I value in my everyday life: anti-oppression, harm reduction, and abolition.

Our sessions together will weave gentle curiosity and open-ended exploration of who you are as an embodied human in relation to your environment, understanding that what is in the present usually has roots anchored deep in our somatic (body) awareness.
Currently accepting new clients. I am a queer, non-binary, mixed-race, neurodivergent Student Therapist in my last year of a five-year training program at the Gestalt Institute of Toronto. I specialize in working with clients around issues relating to sexuality, sexual orientation, gender identity, body dysphoria, religious trauma, relationships (monogamous/polyamorous), kink, anxiety, depression, existential issues & life transitions. If you've been reluctant to approach a therapist for support fearing that you will be judged or shamed, I can empathize - and I can probably help.

Caitlin likes to work from an integrative approach toward therapy modalities because she believes that every individual’s process is unique, and that treatment should not comply with a one-size-fits-all approach. She believes assessing the cognitive, emotional, somatic, and behavioural aspects of all experiences is important. Caitlin draws from evidence-based treatments like Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Trauma- Informed Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy and Mindfulness.

To facilitate this, I integrate a psychodynamic, polyvagal, and focusing oriented approach - with an extensive somatic experiencing framework to facilitate a warm, flexible, experiential, and authentic ecosystem.
We face overwhelming uncertainty and complexity today, and I believe life is more psychologically challenging than any other time in modern history. We carry by ourselves what was never meant to be carried alone. The pace of our lives & its demands make it harder to tend to our inner life and connect with ourselves, our healing, & our wisdom. Yet tending to our inner life is so important for our well-being, our growth, our psychological flexibility, and our capacities to be resilient and make the most out of our lives.

Rooted in a holistic, trauma-informed, and person-centered framework, my approach is shaped by additional training in grief counselling, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and somatic work.
In the face of trauma, grief, life transitions, and the challenges of frontline healthcare work, my goal is to cultivate a secure and non-judgmental space for us to navigate life's uncertainties together. While these experiences may feel daunting, they also hold the potential for profound transformation with the right guidance and tools. In my practice, I prioritize collaboration, value mutual authenticity, celebrate the full spectrum of your human experience, and encourage honest feedback.

I also bring somatic mindfulness and self-compassion techniques to my work with people navigating relationships, intimacy and sex, life transitions, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression.
I view therapy as a creative process. A creative process requires connection, trust, and a sense of humour. I bring over a decade of experience in the arts to my work as a psychotherapist, and have spent my life building supportive spaces where we try things, fail productively, and sometimes reach breakthroughs collaboratively. Together we will investigate the nuances of your story and explore alternate ways of being with your thoughts, feelings, mind and body. I'm queer, and work from a relational, attachment-focused, and trauma-informed perspective.

Combining emotionally focused, cognitive behavioural, mindfulness, trauma reduction, and somatic relational psychotherapy my goal is to go deeper with clients to address root causes.
As human beings, we all have complex emotions and having the courage to express, process and understand them creates great relief and ultimately new found strength. The journey into our past and present emotional content is not one we should have to take alone. I will work with you to truly understand your emotional landscape, look beyond your symptoms and honour the unique elements of your life. During our therapeutic work together, we will clear through the challenges that are holding you back from achieving your full potential.

Somatic Counsellors

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
