Therapy addresses relationship problems, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and men's issues including addictions, stress, emotional awareness, conflict, and connection.
I’m a counsellor in Saskatoon providing grounded, evidence-based therapy for adults and couples. I help clients navigate emotional, relational, and psychological challenges, including stress, anxiety, depression, addictions, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. While I have a particular focus on men’s mental health and couples, I offer meaningful psychological support to anyone seeking growth, improved well-being, and peace of mind. Integral to this work is exploring the broader contexts that influence our external and internal experiences, in order to open to new possibilities for perception and being.

Adverse childhood experiences, sexual trauma, and long periods of living in survival mode can quietly shape how you move through the world. When coping strategies that once helped begin to create more distress, therapy can offer a different way forward. You might feel constantly on edge, disconnected from your body, struggling with intimacy, or unsure why certain emotions, urges, or reactions feel so intense. Many people I work with have learned to cope by pushing things down, staying in control, or using substances to get through, only to find those strategies are no longer helping.

I work with all sorts of people, but 2SLGBTQ+ issues and the challenges of being queer in a majority heterosexual world are often the centre of conversation. I focus on helping people to understand and express their identity in the context of the intersection between 2SLGBTQ+ issues and the mental health struggles that accompany this journey, such as anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Many people in and out of the 2SLGBTQ+ community are struggling with anxious or intrusive thoughts, dealing with family rejection or loss, and experiencing depression. It's time to take control of our identities.

I work with men who are done pretending everything's fine, parents stretched to their limit, and kids who need someone in their corner. Many men today feel isolated, overwhelmed by work-life pressures, or struggle with anger, low self-esteem, and finding balance. I help fathers and men build emotional resilience, manage anxiety and worry, improve relationships, and step into their roles with greater confidence and calm. I work with individuals who are looking to better understand their personal and social identity. Emphasis in the counselling field is often given to learning new thought patterns and coping skills. While I do this in my practice and find it effective, I also discuss the concept of 'unlearning' and its importance for growth, allowing us to create a new foundation which is centred on self-awareness. When we unlearn these 'autopilot' ways of responding to situations, we can create a reality where we are actively in the driver’s seat to create the lifestyle and connections that we find authentic, meaningful and long-lasting.

I'm here for professionals who've noticed a persistent, quiet hum of "not good enough": that despite your achievements, your sense of relief is short and then you're on to the next task. For many of my clients, receiving love was conditional on being the best, the smartest, or the most resilient. They learned to survive by doing, but still felt fundamentally unseen. While this internal drive built great careers, it has left their nervous systems stuck in a state of chronic high alert, making it nearly impossible to experience genuine presence or inner peace. We can go behind that narrative of striving to address its foundations.

Accepting NEW Clients! Like a lot of men, you might not think counselling is for you. You don't want long talks about your feelings. It's too touchy-feely, and you doubt it would actually solve anything. You've spent your whole life being told to "suck it up" or "be a man." So that is what you have been doing, trying to handle it on your own. But you keep having blow-ups, or you feel on edge most of the time. At home you might feel like you're just going through the motions. Your partner keeps telling you, "you should see someone." For 25 years, I've worked with men exactly like you. A lot of counselling just isn't built for men.

Guys have way more going on emotionally than most of us are comfortable talking about. If you have never talked to someone about whatever it is that you probably should talk to someone about, then I may be the guy for you. Some men come to my office after they've recently broken up with their girlfriend (or she has broken up with him). Some are dealing with anxiety or are living under the influence of depression. Some guys are trying to figure out who they really are and what to do with their life. What they all have in common is that they have strengths to draw on and want to advance in life feeling better than they do now.

My passion is to come alongside people as they pursue flourishing in their lives, whatever that looks like for them. I approach counselling from a person-centered, collaborative, and non-judgmental posture. I began my journey by completing a B.A. degree in Psychology from Princeton University in 2010. On my way to then completing a Master of Counselling degree I postponed my studies for several years while my family and I did humanitarian work in Thailand. Moving back to Canada in 2023, I am now completing my internship. My life experience, education, and curiosities have led me to offer therapy in several areas including:

There are many reasons people seek out counselling. Grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction and relationships are among the most common reasons. Some problems in life are tolerable but others feel overwhelming and unmanageable.

Many people have already talked their stories through. The goal here isn’t to endlessly process - it’s to heal. We go beneath coping and analysis, carefully deconstruct what’s holding you in place and rebuild from the foundation up. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) supporting adults, couples, and adolescents through trauma, neurodivergence, OCD, personality disorders, attachment-based challenges and more. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices. Many of my clients have experienced therapy before but are ready for a deeper layer of healing. I provide a comforting space to heal while growing.

Men's Issues Counsellors
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
