I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and that our experiences shape us. But you can overcome any obstacles, in the past, present, or future, and allow them to build you into the person you are meant to be! With support, guidance and the proper tools, all challenges can be faced! It just starts with you taking the courageous first step of seeking counselling.

Are you a people pleaser that needs to be needed? Do you wish that your communication and conflict resolution skills could be better? Childhood relationships with family members, particularly parents, shape the way we develop communication skills and interact with conflict. Maladaptive patterns are an attempt at self-regulation and keep individuals, couples, families and groups from having healthy personal and professional relationships. Do you wish to lovingly find solutions to your inner and interpersonal conflicts? I can help by leveraging your strengths to reveal a path forward.

What keeps us feeling like we are in limbo/stuck? Unresolved issues and traumas can keep us feeling and/or thinking that we are not progressing as we'd like, resulting in many feelings of being overwhelmed, burned out, and experiencing physical/emotional pains. Over 18 years of clinical experience, I can help you to discover and identify the core issues/patterns/beliefs, while inspiring hope and courage while you walk a more integrated path living life with more joy and abundance; with feelings of rejuvenation and release; and with an expanded self-awareness, emotional balance, and clearer thinking.

Waitlist for new clients
I am not currently able to take on new therapy clients - I am only accepting new assessment clients. In my practice, I help people to process and recover from the experience of trauma. If you feel stuck, paralyzed by past events, or like you are being haunted by your own memories, I can help you find a way to move forward. Alongside my focus with PTSD, I work generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic, and work stress.

Accepting new clients. With 28 years of experience working as a psychologist in both a teaching hospital and a private practice setting, I have strong psychotherapy skills. My understanding of attachment, trauma, and emotional functioning allows me to rapidly assess the factors that contribute to an individual's distress and intervene to move clients to more optimal functioning in the shortest time possible.

I work with all sorts of people, but 2SLGBTQ+ issues and the challenges of being queer in a majority heterosexual world are often the centre of conversation. I focus on helping people to understand and express their identity in the context of the intersection between 2SLGBTQ+ issues and the mental health struggles that accompany this journey, such as anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Many people in and out of the 2SLGBTQ+ community are struggling with anxious or intrusive thoughts, dealing with family rejection or loss, and experiencing depression. It's time to take control of our identities.

Life is busy and demanding, often throwing unexpected curve balls our way. Finding a safe and supportive place to discuss these unexpected occurrences and ground yourself is a great first step towards achieving balance and working through unresolved issues and traumas. I am a firm believer that you are the expert of your self and your journey; I am here to meet you where you are at and help you to navigate, to slow down, and to bring awareness to those hidden details that often go unnoticed. I do not believe in rushing toward an end goal, but rather taking time and space to understand what it is that has occurred and moving forward.

Many of my clients have experienced difficulties with emotion regulation - often suffering through episodes of shame, anger, fear, and sadness. Even day to day stressors can be destabilizing … we often manage for awhile, but over time find ourselves more withdrawn, angry, or numb. My clients have often found themselves stuck in these defensive modes. If you hope for change and are willing to reach out, please don't hesitate .... you are worth it!
