Life is busy and demanding, often throwing unexpected curve balls our way. Finding a safe and supportive place to discuss these unexpected occurrences and ground yourself is a great first step towards achieving balance and working through unresolved issues and traumas. I am a firm believer that you are the expert of your self and your journey; I am here to meet you where you are at and help you to navigate, to slow down, and to bring awareness to those hidden details that often go unnoticed. I do not believe in rushing toward an end goal, but rather taking time and space to understand what it is that has occurred and moving forward.

I offer psychodiagnostic and psychoeducational assessments for children and adolescents aged 6 to 16.
My goal is to gain a comprehensive understanding of a child and family's unique experience. I approach each assessment with compassion and curiosity. By working closely with families and often with the school, I can help families understand their child's strengths and areas of challenge.

My heart is with parents of children who are struggling because one thing that I know for sure is that if we are no ok, our kids don't stand a chance.
Holding space in the darkest places is what I am so honoured to offer. Providing a place of safety for people to unpack all that is weighing them down is my mission. Collaboratively I walk alongside as you uncover and process the hard stuff with compassion, support and a whole lot of empathy.

We live in a world that demands much of us making it easy to become weighed down. We can begin simply surviving instead of thriving and flourishing in our one life. It doesn't have to be this way and my passion is to come alongside of people as they journey toward flourishing. I approach counselling from a person-centered, collaborative, non-judgmental posture. I believe you are the expert in your own life and that counselling is a partnership in pursuit of your goals for therapy together. My areas of focus include depression, anxiety, stress, grief, self-esteem and identity, transitions in life, sexuality, and spirituality.

Pause. Exhale. Are you tired of talking but still feel stuck? Have you hit a dead end and still experience unresolved or unexplained thoughts, feelings, pain or other symptoms? I help people improve mental and physical health and performance through the application of behavioral learning principles to breathing physiology. This is not yoga. This is not meditation. This is applied psychophysiology. Breath Behavioral Analysis with biofeedback assisted breathing retraining, combined with Somatic Breath Therapy give you the tools to completely shift your breath and life. What if it could be as easy as adjusting your exhale?

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How long are sessions with child therapists?
Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.

How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?
The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
