Something Different! If you're looking for someone to help push you to places you can't get to yourself, I'm that kind of therapist. If you know you need to do some serious internal work, I can guide you through it. If you know that your current thinking, and behavior is holding you back from the life you desire, let's get to work. Life is too short to keep running up against the same obstacles time and time again, waiting for something to change. You are the obstacle. . . AND you are the change you're looking for. If this makes sense, know that your love and compassion for yourself is the healing you're looking for.

These trainings help me walk the path to healing both trauma and intergenerational trauma with you.
Having walked the journey myself, I am aware of how difficult the process of change can be. That's why I walk the journey with you. I meet you where you are, and collaboratively we decide what your journey to heal is. I am always excited to work with clients who know that they need to make changes to better their lives, even if they don't fully understand what those changes are. I bring in not only my formal education, but there is also room in my practice for your culture, spirituality, and anything else you need or want to use to help them on this journey of change.

I'm Michelle, a Clinical Counsellor (16+) supporting clients with mental health, trauma, chronic health, and peri/menopause.
My own healing taught me we cannot talk our way out of what the body holds. Using Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, and Parts Work, we uncover what is underneath, so your reactions stop taking over, you feel more connected to yourself and others, and what matters most comes back into focus.

But first, we find safety within your body and take the time to understand what is going on for you (ex. anxiety, chronic illness/pain, gut problems, headaches, chronic fight/flight/freeze habits, panic attacks, depression, confusion, feeling "lost", trauma history).
I'm a Registered Social Worker, an Expressive Movement Facilitator, and completed Advanced Level 2 of Somatic Experiencing (SE). I've completed SE's Masterclass Level 1, Eye of the Needle, which works with and supports near-death experiences or paralytic/anesthesia states. Body and movement techniques are essential to healing and the way I practice.

You want to understand why you feel anxious, reactive, overwhelmed, disconnected, burnout or depressed so that you can change your patterns and feel more connected to yourself and others. One of the more unique aspects of my practice is my somatic approach to healing of trauma and other stress disorders.
Hi. I’m Christine. I’m a certified counsellor. I’m also an educator, mother, doula and an inner and outer explorer. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in the human service sector in roles such as school teacher, community justice facilitator, sexual health educator, and crisis counsellor. I have been fortunate to work with people from across the lifespan from diverse cultural, racial, sexual, religious, and economic backgrounds. It is through this work and through self-inquiry that I have come to understand how these complex intersections of identity shape one’s experience and well-being.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
