Somatic Therapists in Regina, SK

Drawing from specialized training, I aim to provide a nuanced, trauma-informed method grounded in each person's unique story and experiences, blending talk therapy with Somatic Experiencing, Parts Work, EMDR, and Mindfulness to foster self-awareness, deep exploration, and insight, recognizing the complexity of human experience.
When anxiety, depression, physical health issues, or relationship difficulties persist, they may be linked to stress, unprocessed trauma, and overwhelm, leaving your nervous system caught in fight-flight or shutdown. This state is deeply exhausting - I understand. As a Clinical Counsellor with 15 years in mental health, I honor the mind-body connection. I guide you beyond reactive patterns toward genuine connection by helping you identify triggers, develop present-moment awareness, work through emotions, shift patterns, and tap into your natural wisdom – bringing more clarity and ease to daily life.

These include Somatic Experiencing Trauma Therapy, EMDR, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and mindfulness-based and compassion-focused work.
The approaches I use in therapy help a person to recognize and normalize their patterns of responses to life events, how these have helped them in past and how they can move forward in a new more adaptive way. I emphasize that all feelings are normal responses to life's ups-and-downs and that we can learn to experience them and not be controlled by them.

I'm a Registered Social Worker, an Expressive Movement Facilitator, and completed Advanced Level 2 of Somatic Experiencing (SE).
My passion and great love when serving clients is working with and supporting primarily the body or "soma". The body carries memories and imprints of your ancestral and lived experiences, which forms and shapes you, your habits, beliefs, preferences, conditioning, traumas, emotions, etc. We initially focus on creating safety in and connecting with your body, which is the pathway and portal to aligning your body with your heart, gut, mind, Spirit, Soul, and Source. If you feel stuck, disassociated, floating, sick, chronic pain, perpetual fight/flight/freeze, then this kind of therapy may be the next step on your path to healing.

I do have a strong leaning toward somatic work, though will use cognitive behavioral and mindfulness tools as well.
Something Different! If you're looking for someone to help push you to places you can't get to yourself, I'm that kind of therapist. If you know you need to do some serious internal work, I can guide you through it. If you know that your current thinking, and behavior is holding you back from the life you desire, let's get to work. Life is too short to keep running up against the same obstacles time and time again, waiting for something to change. You are the obstacle. . . AND you are the change you're looking for. If this makes sense, know that your love and compassion for yourself is the healing you're looking for.

Breath Behavioral Analysis with biofeedback assisted breathing retraining, combined with Somatic Breath Therapy give you the tools to completely shift your breath and life.
Unconscious, learned breathing patterns can sabotage you by creating detrimental feedback loops in the nervous system that mimic or exacerbate numerous cognitive, emotional & physical symptoms, disorders, and diseases. Breathing Pattern Disorders are not a disease but produce symptoms that mimic disease. So now you know it's not all in your head, but HOW?

How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
