About
How do you find the best counsellor for you? Good question. I often hear people say they are looking for a “good Psychologist” , yet we know that most people improve if there is a good relationship with the therapist. I come from an acceptance of where you are in your journey. I do not believe the goal of counselling is “counselling itself”, but to find a way to move forward in your journey. "To feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health” (Bessel Van der Kolk, 2014).
My education has been as a nurse then as a psychologist. My work experience has mostly been counselling with adults (and seniors) with different mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, work stress, and stress from life issues. I am aware of many of the community resources that I may refer you to for a supplement to our journey.
I use the modalities of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), iRest , Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Compassion Focused therapy. If you would like to connect, it is best to email me and together, we will find the best way to help you. (you must be an Alberta Resident )
