I am a compassionate, gentle and down-to-earth kind of counsellor. I specialize in working with folks who have experienced trauma and/or who struggle with complex PTSD. My work with my clients focuses on healing the beliefs that we have learned about ourselves or the world through traumatic events, abusive relationships or unhealthy upbringings. I am alone, I'm not good enough or my emotions are unsafe are just a few core beliefs that can have a vast and impactful effect on how we feel about ourselves and interact in relationships or in general.
I mainly draw from psycho-dynamic approaches such as Emotionally Focus Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Theory and Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization (EMDR). My job is to help find which therapeutic techniques work best for you and I regularly will ask you what feels best as all sessions are unique.
I understand how challenging life is and that starting counselling may feel even more daunting. I want to always ensure that there are no expectations when you reach out and there is no pressure to share what you are not comfortable with. Maybe we focus on the theory or just life in general. Regardless, I am here to be open, non-judgemental and welcoming.
