Are you tired of feeling invisible and powerless? Are you tired of hurting, feeling depressed, and hopeless and that you don't matter? Do you long to feel safe and connected? As a result of healing my own childhood trauma from sexual abuse, I now specialise in supporting people, in a trauma informed way, as they navigate the confusion of living with adversities, and trauma. I am passionate about guiding people to a place of living instead of merely surviving. The truth is that our adversities actually become windows to learning how to live magnificently. We are not what was done to us!

Some of my experiences include counselling survivors of sexual assault and other forms of gender based violence, providing daily support for folks living with mental illness and addictions, and short term crisis line support.
Trauma impacts how we see the world, navigate through our experiences, and connect with others. Even though you are not the product of a single experience or relationship, one experience can feel so overwhelming that it overtakes over all others. Together, you can start to dream about what life will look like if this problem or memory wasn't an obstacle anymore. What would be different? And what strengths and resources do you already carry with you to start that process.

I have diverse clinical skills with a special focus on anxiety, depression, trauma, concussions and brain injuries, PTSD, and men's survivors of sexual abuse.
I work with individuals and couples who seek to improve their mental health and relationships. I work with individuals, who experienced trauma, struggling with anxiety, and/ or seeking meaning to life events. My unique life experience exposed me to different cultures and ways of living, which included the Middle East, Europe, and North America. I believe that relationships, mental health, and behaviors are better understood when body, mind, and context are examined simultaneously. I work with my clients to navigate through their experiences, including their spirituality, to create helpful meanings in their lives.

I work with folks who have a hard time embracing themselves or feel small due to trauma/abuse (narcissistic, religious/spiritual and sexual abuse).
Are you struggling with low self esteem, anxiety and self-doubt due to a traumatic or abusive past? Have you cultivated a deep intellectual self-awareness within but still feel like your trauma symptoms are unresolved? Do you tend to blame or shame yourself for things you deep down know aren’t your fault? Or feel overwhelmed or fearful of failure in regard to moving forward with your life? If you resonate, know that this is a soft place to land.

I am an unconventional therapist who ecourgaes her clients to talk to trees and prescribes nature walks and ceremonies in the woods. My therapeutic work is a unique combination of western therapeutic approaches, research based neuroscience infused therapy, wisdom from my Siberian ancestors who practiced Shamanism and ancient Slavic healing modalities, and intuitive healing... but most days I will just say that I am someone who doesn’t take herself too seriously and is deeply in love with the earth.

Does it feel as if life's become too much of a struggle? Where there's too much chaos and confusion inside? You know in your heart you want to leave it all behind, but you've felt caught in its maze for so very long. It's been painful. The struggle's become too much to bear. You want to break free, follow your heart, live life the way you know you need to. Except it's come to the point now where you realize, you just can't do this alone.

As a counsellor, one is a supporter in a shared experience of learning and growing, with assessments usually being completed by the person being helped. I use questions, storytelling, humour, modelling, and proven methods to raise your awareness of your wholeness and interrelationships within life. I use the healing power of hypnosis for connecting within ourselves: spiritual, mental, physical and mental. I use a two-eyed approach of both modern and Indigenous knowledge with increasing focus into approaches such as parts therapies, Compassionate Inquiry as developed by Gabor Mate, Deep Brain Reorienting, and Psychedelic Studies.

Sexual Abuse Counsellors

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?

A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?

Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?

Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?

As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
