Hi there, honestly as both a clinician and someone who goes to therapy - I find the bio’s on Psych Today to be a double edged sword. On the one hand I understand the need to put important information, and a relatable appeal forward to anyone who might come across this profile. On the other, they really do all begin to sound and feel the same. I don’t want to provide the same kind of experience to the people I work with. Partly because I’m not the same kind of person, or therapist that you’re likely to find on here, but (and I admit this might be somewhat selfish) also partly because I too do not want the same kind of experience
I have been doing this therapy thing for 6 or 7 years now, and long ago stopped providing McTherapy Meals to my clients. Those folks who I am truly looking to work with, are looking for me too and we will learn to communicate, and learn from each other in ways that neither of us now think are even possible.
So, the point- I want to express to you that if it's hard to find yourself right now, to see a way through what feels like trouble and uncertainty in parts of your life- relationships, parents, kids, family, work, or your sense of who you are - then you and I may be able to connect in ways that leave you with a space in your life to breathe, to grow, to be.
