When we aren't feeling like the best version of ourselves, it's tough to engage in our lives in the way we would like to; our daily stress adds up and pulls us away from the things that are important to us. Whether little things in your life are piling up and becoming overwhelming or you are in the midst of a major life transition, accessing support is an important first step to living a value-driven life. Sometimes we are feeling alright, but we aren't where we want to be. Having dedicated time and space to process our thoughts with an unbiased listener can build the insight we need to thrive.

Most people will face challenges in their lives, whether it's symptoms of a mental health concern (e.g. anxiety/depression) or situational (e.g. work, relationships). These challenges can lead us off track, struggling to cope and we find ourselves feeling unfulfilled or distressed. I work with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, stress, relationship issues, trauma, grief and work/life balance concerns. I aim to tailor my approach to each individual client so they feel able to implement the change they want. This may include a focus on learning skills or building a deeper awareness.

Our experiences and emotions can hit us like a huge wave that disrupts our daily life and our relationships with family, friends and peers. While we cannot always stop the waves that life brings, I do believe we can learn to surf. I offer a non-judgemental, empathetic and supportive space where I work collaboratively with you and/or your family towards making change that is within your control, while navigating what is not.

People often come for therapy as they are hurting or distressed and they have found that they are confused about how to move forward. They can be worried about someone else, are having difficulty with relationships with their spouse, children, or coworkers. Some people prefer to attend therapy on their own, while others wish to include the family member they are concerned about. I see people with depression, anxiety, attention difficulties, obsessive compulsive disorder, substance abuse, adjustment issues (separation and divorce).

As someone who struggles with anxiety, it can sometimes feel like a label or something we just have to learn to "deal with" as a part of life. You often find yourself wondering what you can do to help yourself “get rid of this feeling” or feel better in some way. Your personality has changed and sometimes you worry that it might get worse. You know you have so much potential - but your anxiety & stress have had an impact on so many aspects of your life, work, and relationships. It can be scary to reach out to a therapist because you want to make sure that you find someone who really gets you and what you are going through.

Professionally I have supported individuals with highly complex needs for 25 years. This has ranged from assessment and treatment of moderate to severely challenging behaviours and specialized services for people with mental health challenges, dual diagnosis, learning challenges, acquired brain injury and post-concussion rehabilitation and counselling. In my experience it is essential to first understand individuals as unique individuals irregardless of their label or challenges and develop a trusting relationship. In this context difficulties can be discussed openly and change and growth can occur.

You do not need to be at your wit’s end to benefit from psychotherapy: It can help us heal from past wounds and allow us to transform into our authentic selves. Living in congruence with our values – though it can be terrifying at times – significantly increases quality of life. Past hurt can interfere with relationships, work, and everyday life. While honouring our resilience, we occasionally need to re-evaluate whether these strategies still serve us. However, not all hardship is historic, and we need help in the moment. I am here to support you, or you and your partner overcome this difficult time.

As human beings we may feel lost/stuck due to painful or challenging life experiences. This can impact our ability to live our lives fully. I am passionate about working with individuals who have concerns around stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, relationships, grief, and life transitions/work-life balance. Support may look different for each person, while some may want to focus on building coping strategies, others may seek a deeper healing process. One of our first steps will be building awareness of your needs, the change you want in your life and identifying your goals to make this change possible.

Self-Harming Counsellors
Self-harm (SH) or deliberate self-harm (DSH) is the deliberate infliction of damage to your own body. It includes cutting, burning, scratching, banging or hitting yourself, interfering with wound healing, and the ingestion of toxic substances or objects. While self injury (SI) can look like suicide, it's not; most people who mutilate themselves do it as a way to regulate mood. People who hurt themselves in this way may be motivated by a need to distract themselves from inner turmoil, or to quickly release anxiety that builds due to an inability to express intense emotions.

If you're looking for help with self-harming in N6B or for someone who self harms, or cuts themselves, or bangs or hits themselves, these N6B counsellors provide counselling for self harming in N6B. They include counsellors, who understand self harming in N6B, psychologists, and therapists. They can provide self harming counselling in N6B or treatment for self harming.
