All sessions are virtual (by video or phone) to reduce barriers like childcare and travel time.
The truth is, not all births go to plan, maternity leave rarely matches our expectations, and few people speak openly about how difficult it is to be a working mom. In fact, it's estimated that 1/4 moms will be diagnosed with a mood disorder. It's also common for relationship distress to increase alongside parent stress with around 2/3 of couples reporting less marital satisfaction after becoming parents. If you didn't imagine parenthood to feel like this, you're not alone.

I work with adults who want a space where they can feel heard, understood, and safe to explore even the most uncomfortable parts of life. Living with mental health issues such as addictions, anxiety, depression, anger, PTSD, relationship challenges, or ADHD can be incredibly taxing on the mind, body, and soul. You may have exhausted yourself trying multiple techniques, strategies, and tools with little relief. Imagine how your life would feel if you had a sense of peace, flow, ease, and happiness. There is a reason that all of the trying and striving hasn’t worked. The root of many mental health challenges is unresolved pain and trauma from past or present adverse experiences.

I specialize in offering online counselling services to Saskatchewan residents who are affected by workplace challenges.
It is important to know that struggling at work does not mean you are failing; it means you are human. Workplace challenges are common and many capable, hardworking people experience them. These struggles do not reflect a lack of ability or competence on your part; they reflect the real pressures of today’s workplaces. Toxic work environments, increasing workloads, continuous change, conflict, gossip and workplace politics all contribute to feelings of stress and burnout. Communication skills, stress management techniques and setting boundaries can help you better cope and address workplace issues in an effective way.

Pause. Exhale. Are you tired of talking but still feel stuck? Have you hit a dead end and still experience unresolved or unexplained thoughts, feelings, pain or other symptoms? I help people improve mental and physical health and performance through the application of behavioral learning principles to breathing physiology. This is not yoga. This is not meditation. This is applied psychophysiology. Breath Behavioral Analysis with biofeedback assisted breathing retraining, combined with Somatic Breath Therapy give you the tools to completely shift your breath and life. What if it could be as easy as adjusting your exhale?

I offer therapy sessions online via video.
As an intern Christian counsellor pursuing a Master's degree, I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life's challenges and discover their true selves. Pressures, demands, expectations, trauma, disappointments, and tasks push in from all sides and assault our minds and schedules. Do this, be there, finish that, call them. Everyone seems to want something from us when we ourselves are going through struggles that can feel unseen and unheard. Such pressures can lead to exhaustion and disconnection, creating a deep need for a space to pause, reflect, and be understood.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?

One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialised therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?

Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?

The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
