Sarina Kathy Wiesinger
Counsellor, MC, RCC
Why be a counsellor? I love understanding how people engage in life, how tough circumstances affect well-being, and how people respond to challenging situations. I thrive on learning and helping individuals navigate life with their specific values in mind, and if they are experiencing distress, working with them to help things feel better, lighter, and more hopeful. I believe helping people engage in small shifts and tweaks has a significant impact on daily lives and improves one's quality of life. For these above reasons I earned a Masters of Counselling degree and became a Registered Clinical Counsellor.
Training in evidence-based Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and also employing Solution-Focused, and Strength and Response Based techniques, is utilized to help clients improve their well-being and reach their goals. Specialized knowledge and training have also focused on trauma, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ2S+, and the Autism spectrum.
In my view, the therapeutic relationship is of core importance for clients and I strive to cultivate a safe and respectful environment for all clients where they feel heard, understood, and seen as a unique individual. From this place, discussion and goal setting are accomplished together and are tailored for each distinct person and their situation.
