About

Music has an amazing capacity to help us heal our pain. As an alternative to talk therapy, music therapy can help you improve your emotional and psychological wellbeing. You can harnesses music, as a means for soothing and regulating emotions, expressing and exploring life experiences, redefining who you are and changing how you connect to the world. Music is deeply connected to your memories, culture, identity, relationship experiences and beliefs. Whether you are a seasoned musician or simply a music lover; music is the language of emotion. This is an experiential, creative approach to therapy that anyone can try.
As a musician, I know the capacity for music to hold, and catalyze emotions. I also bring 18 years of experience as a physiotherapist, helping individuals with progressive illness and chronic pain. My lived experience includes overcoming depression, grief, relationship distress and disordered eating. Music is an incredible tool for wellness.
You have an innate ability to find a path to wellness. I provide a collaborative support, using music to help you create lasting, positive life changes. Whatever your struggle, I offer space for you to express, and thoughtful perspectives as you strengthen your unique self. I will gladly and warmly reply to all inquiries. No training or "ability" needed.

Sarah Kennedy Certified Music Therapist's Groups

Online Music Therapy Group for Social Isolation

With 5-7 people I provide music experiences that explore the challenges of isolation and the skills for establishing connections with other humans. We explore topics such as trust, finding safe connections, building support, identifying inner resources, and managing rejection and disappointment. We may listen to music together, use household instruments, hum, sway, and share our voices. All languages, eras and styles of music are embraced. Sessions are light-hearted, fun and supportive. Explore what might be holding you back from establishing connections. I need a minimum of 5 committed participants to start a group.

Moving through Grief with Music

I offer music-based grief support groups. In these groups of 5-7 people, we use music to explore thoughts and feelings about those who have died and how to carry on in our own lives. Groups run for 6 weeks with each session lasting 90 minutes. There is no need for music training or talent to participate. Your grief is welcome here. I provide these groups whenever I have a minimum of 5 committed participants.
