I am a clinical psychologist working exclusively with individuals and families navigating infertility, donor conception, surrogacy, infant loss, and pregnancy/postpartum after assisted reproduction. I offer the required one-time consultation for single individuals or couples needing to use donor gametes. I also follow individuals and families in psychotherapy over time to help them navigate the many hurdles, decisions, and medical interventions they may need. It is not uncommon for me to follow clients for several years.
My practice is 2SLGBTQI+ and BIPOC friendly. This part of my practice is very important to me.
Therapy can cover:
1. The process of assisted reproduction and what to expect,
2. Emotional resourcing to help regulate the nervous system,
3. Communicating with family/friends/employers,
4. Coping with uncertainty and grief,
5. Coping with anxiety related to pregnancy (with/without a surrogate), and
6. Advocating for self in the medical system
Having a roadblock to family planning is a traumatic experience. My clients describe feeling misunderstood, isolated, and in a near constant state of nervous system activation. It is never too early in the journey to reach out and build a network of support. I am happy to meet new clients and am honoured to be a small part of their journey.
